The Virginia Department of Corrections (VADOC) observed Memorial Day by holding a special ceremony at Lawrenceville Correctional Center. Those who have fallen were honored through song, arts and crafts, guest speakers, and personal shoutouts from the audience.

Dillwyn Correctional Center held a graduation ceremony for incarcerated individuals at Dillwyn and Buckingham Correctional Centers who earned their degrees from Piedmont Virginia Community College. Congratulations to those who received their diplomas for your hard work!

Several members of our corrections team were honored to attend the kickoff of the Special Olympics Virginia Law Enforcement Torch Run season Thursday in Charlottesville. Thank you to Special Olympics Virginia and our public safety partners who support athletes across Virginia.

Fifteen students graduated from the inaugural peer-lead, Spanish–As a Second Language program at Buckingham Correctional Center. Over 10 weeks, the students learned and developed an understanding of the Spanish language through speaking, reading, and writing.

District 21, Fredericksburg Probation & Parole, hosted a Second Chance Hiring Event. The event highlighted community partners that provide employment opportunities and resources for justice‑impacted individuals, and close to 60 participants received job offers.
