#paper #New_publication #DigitalActivism Happy to share my latest publication, co-authored with one of my former PhD students, now out in @VAWJournal. Examining 20 hashtags on X from 2018–2023, the study shows how Iranian women transform digital spaces from objects of control to empowered subjects, resisting mandatory hijab and state control while redefining agency, identity, and subjectivity through online symbolic actions. Our study shows that digital activism is not just a communication tool but a symbolic battlefield where women redefine desire and identity through hashtags, experiencing a form of “resistant pleasure” (jouissance). Politically, this digital resistance fosters agency and reclaims symbolic power, enabling feminist identity and emancipatory subjectivity under state surveillance. journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/10… #WomenLifeFreedom #Hashtag #Resistance
