Some amazing professional learning took place at today's ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher meeting! Thanks to all of those who shared what they learned or presented at the VESA conference! #vbschools

The VBCPS English as a Second Language program celebrated 40 years today! 🎉 To think we started with 3 teachers and will have 94 next school year!!!

ESL teachers engaged in professional learning today with presentations by the Department of School Leadership, 2 of our own teachers, and ODU. We are fortunate to have amazing colleagues with whom to collaborate!

ESL teachers worked through many pedagogical practices to support their English learners. Through this collaborative work they will be able to better support student outcomes.

At yesterday's professional learning meeting, ESL teachers shared and learned more about how to utilize resources to support excellent instruction.

Landstown High School hosted a wonderful, informative event for families of English learners in collaboration with several other high schools... Kudos to the English as a Second Language teachers, admin, and staff for their hard work putting this together!

Day 2 of 2024-2025 ESL teacher professional learning featured 3 special presentations, more Title III updates, opportunities for teacher feedback, and, of course, lots of yummy food organized by our social committee and contributed by teachers.

The first day of ESL teacher professional learning for the 24-25 school year engaged teachers in Title III compliance review and tasks sprinkled with team-building activities and presentations by a language arts colleague and one of our own teachers!

Our @VBCPSESL teachers wrapped up another successful school year with powerful professional development, much of which was led by some of our amazing ESL teacher leaders. Great job in continuing to support our ELLs.

We're fortunate to have Virginia Beach English learner (EL) teachers attending the Virginia EL Supervisors' conference! There are a multitude of educational presentations/sessions, and we are excited to implement new ideas to support our students!

Tonight's professional learning session led by ESL teacher Stacy Beebe and facilitated by ESL teacher Bernadette Parris provided effective, easy-to-implement strategies for educators who teach English learners.

Our awesome ESL teachers had a full day of professional learning, team building, and some laughter.

ESL teacher professional learning today focused on annual English proficiency testing and integrating the WIDA English Language Development standards, along with an informative presentation by our elementary language arts colleague.

ESL teachers engaged in valuable professional learning today, including utilizing the WIDA ELD Standards and ESL resources to support instruction as well as collaboration with ESL Family Outreach Representatives, the Intl. Welcome Center counselor, and language arts colleagues.
