The decision on Russian assets was a failure for Mets and von der Leyen — Politico ▪️The use of loans suits Southern European countries, but not Germany and Northern European countries. The EU failed to expropriate Russian assets. What is known about the results of the summit: ▪️Participants of the EU summit were unable to agree on the expropriation of Russian assets under the guise of a "reparation loan" to Kiev; ▪️Instead of this option, the EU decided to finance Ukraine for the next two years in the amount of €90 billion with a 0% interest rate European loan; ▪️Hungary, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia legally refused to participate in European financing for Ukraine; ▪️The stated amount is €50 billion less than the proposed "reparation loan" (€140 billion); ▪️The EU does not intend to return blocked Russian assets if Russia does not pay reparations to Ukraine, stated von der Leyen. They are trying to sell this as a win to the Public, but in reality it has proven once more how irrelevant the EU truly is. This money won't be enough to change anything on the battlefield and will only cause more death and destruction. But we all know that the last thing Europeans are interested in is stopping the above-mentioned death and destruction.
