Ginny, a Nurse at @GSTTnhs, launched a great initiative to improve care for patients from diverse backgrounds. She sourced products that can be used for patients of all hair textures and skin tone and trained staff on how to look after their skin and hair. Well done Ginny! 💙

I qualify as an RNMH in a few weeks. This morning I have woken up with a sense of anxiety that I'm not ready and need more time. I know why: It's because I got my final essay result back yesterday and that was the last real obstacle. Is this normal? @WeNurses @WeStudentNurse

My younger brother was gifted a Taweez when he was a baby. He wore it in a silver, tubular pendant. Over the years it has been misplaced but he would like a replacement. Could someone please advise on where I can source one? #Taweez

@tharpmarcia1 Well, a positive from today so far: I met an adorable dog. A staffy who wanted to play and have a fuss. And the patient loved that we loved him (the dog). It's important to remember that, for some patients, their pets are a huge part of their lives and help their recovery.

@VEWilliamsNA I took each day at a time. I wrote about my day throughout the placement and tried to focus on the positives ..there ended up being more of those than negatives , for me through 😊

3/3 I felt proud at first. Now I'm nome and I'm picking it apart. Was I *too* confident? Did I seem arrogant? Was she being sarcastic or overly kind? Aargh! On this #WorldMentalHealthDay2023 I say Anxiety sucks but you don't suck for having it. Trust me, I'm almost a MH Nurse.

2/3 I was slipping into the former on my first day of placement today. Then came some home visits and the nurse I went with told me afterwards "I can see how confident you are as a nurse. You can make the patients confident that you know your stuff".

1/2 I have major social anxiety which manifests in 2 ways. Either I become very shy and introverted (which, when coupled with my chronic RBF does not make for a good first impression), or I overcomplicated by presenting as over-confident.

@xolisajane In the very early days following the introduction of the role, it was. The focus has simply shifted.

@IrishTimes Reading between the lines the official didn't want to mediate then they were encouraged to. Don't even ask me why the parents wanted or agreed to meditation. Mediation isn't what was needed here. And if it was going to happen it should've happened in public. Apology not accepted.

@PeggyJaneMurre2 I think it's very rude and should be challenged. However, it is also true that the student is responsible for their own learning and if they fail to respond to prompting to engage more, then this should be documented in supervisor/assessor feedback in their PAD.

Is it just accepted/ignored behaviour that students given a placement/spoke opportunity sit on their phones and not engaging? Learnt behaviour from peers? Some of us are really passionate about our jobs and I feel this is downright rude especially in front of patients.

My son went off to Army Foundation College this week. He's 4 hours away and he's having a great time. But today, I miss him so much. I know he's OK and I'm so proud of him for chasing his dream but I'd love to give him a hug (even for him to grimace and tell me to get off haha)

Reached out to one of the Student Learning and Achievement lecturers because I was stressed about the dissertation. She was so helpful and I now feel like I can make a start on writing. Anyone struggling to get started: There is help available and no shame in using it. @_BNUni
