My understanding was wrong Trade Date vs. Settlement Date: Indian equity markets follow a T+1 settlement cycle, meaning a trade executed on Monday won't settle until Tuesday or Wednesday. However, the Income Tax Department considers the trade date (the day you execute the sell order) as the date of transfer. As long as you sell on or before March 30, it will count toward your FY 2025-26 tax filings.
