Still, this verse is obviously referring to the followers of Jesus on earth I really don't see the other interpretation being valid

@mavuikaslover For one they didn't believe that a prophet would be of non Israelite descent, and that comes straight from their scriptures. And I'm not talking about the prophets themselves but about their followers, people form communities, keep their sacred texts, but there's no Injeel found.

My heart breaks for ex-Muslims. Imagine going from worshipping the all-powerful God who saved Jesus and said that he was a blessing (19:31) and one of those closest to Allah (3:45), to thinking that you are so indebted to your Creator that an innocent man had to come down, take on the curse of the law (Galatians 3:13), and become a curse for you, being cursed by God, who curses another God, so that you can be forgiven by that very same God.
