Lipolysis is when adipocyte triglycerides are broken down by lipases to yield glycerol and three fatty acids. Glycerol is converted to pyruvate, then to acetyl CoA for entry into the TCA cycle! #NUTR321

Insulin and Glucagon, what’s the difference? Insulin signals the fed state- it stimulates the storage of fuels & synthesis of proteins. Glucagon on the other hand signals a fasted state- it stimulates the release of stored fuels to maintain blood glucose & homeostasis. #NUTR321

There is a HUGE difference between a Dietitian (RD or RDN) and a Nutritionist! ANYONE can call themselves a Nutritionist. All Dietitians are Nutritionists, but not all Nutritionists are Dietitians. #NUTR321

Macronutrients include Carbohydrates, Lipids, and Fats. Did you know that alcohol can be considered the fourth, as it contributes 7kcal/g? But with no support regulation of the body, and alcohol being considered both a drug + toxin, we do not consider it a “nutrient”. #NUTR321
