I got some valuable insights from @VOXCoaching @Midlands4Cities @ahrcpress induction event. I learned how to manage professional relationships, establish expectations between colleagues, and present myself in a professional capacity to others. Thank you! vimeo.com/363257972/e645…

Today, VOX Coach @thatchrisgrimes is off to the shiny new PGR Hub @bristoldc to run a course on Personal Impact and Confident Networking with @BristolUni doctoral students. They'll learn how to gain confidence, develop vocal and physical presence, and make a lasting impression.

#VOXtips 8: Rehearse
After preparing a presentation, you should REHEARSE it. Rehearsing out loud lets you play around with different ways of delivering your speech and aids spontaneity on the actual day, making you more prepared to deal with anything unexpected that occurs.
English

#VOXtips 7: LISTEN
Active listening is fundamental to trust, engagement and presence, and key to developing and maintaining good personal and professional relationships. Endeavour to genuinely understand what the other person is thinking, feeling and wanting before you respond.

So true in my experience of coaching leaders. Always leap to the mildly critical comment and ignore the fantastic positive feedback. Btw @VOXCoaching Thanks for the consistently high quality of your work. Has a real impact.😊👍

It's #NationalComplimentDay! As well as giving them, remember to *accept* compliments. The human mind is naturally attuned to focus on negatives - we have to hear a positive message up to 20 times before we accept it, while critical messages are accepted after one hearing.

#VOXtips 6: Ignore the inner gremlin
We all have an inner critic who puts us off when we’re trying to engage an audience. Ignore the gremlin’s running commentary: turn your attention and energy outwards. When speaking or presenting be ‘other-conscious’ rather than self-conscious

Attended a great communication, coaching workshop today run by Chris from @VOXCoaching Can highly recommend it.

#VOXtips 5: Physical Presence
In the spotlight? Don't shrink, hunch, fold your arms, or shuffle. Hold yourself straight with an open posture, gesture naturally and expressively. Focus outwards on the audience, with plenty of eye contact. This will put you in command of the room.
English

#VOXtips 4: Breathe!
Before presenting, breathe calmly, from the diaphragm, so that your abdomen as well as your chest expands. This has a powerfully calming effect, makes you feel more in command. This communicates itself to an audience and increases their confidence in you.
