After years of weather and wear, it was time to restore the iconic GUILD HOUSE sign on Robert Venturi’s historic 1964 building. We collaborated w/ Vitam Signs to renovate the sign & balcony guards. We created templates to replicate existing artwork then carefully matched colors.

"Because my mother had done architecture, I grew up thinking architecture was women’s work" March is Women's History Month! We're celebrating Denise Scott Brown's vast contributions to architecture as well as women throughout the profession! Here's Denise teaching in the '60s.

Our skylight at CCP is almost complete!  Last few panes of glass going in this week!

Did you know VSBA has projects going at the Community College of Philadelphia? One is our replacement of the skylight connecting the historic Mint Building to the Bonnell Building. Here’s a shot of it, construction underway! (Photo thanks to James McDonald of GMI Contractors.)

And of course, juicy graphics appear in so many of VSBA's projects — like PCOM's Meta Christy House, the Allentown Art Museum, Lehigh Valley Hospital - Muhlenberg, the Curtis Institute of Music's Lenfest Hall, and the South Philadelphia Community Health and Literacy Center!

And one of our designers created "Downtown Denise Scott Brown" @ the Architekturzentrum Wien (Vienna), 1st major Denise Scott Brown exhibition: an ersatz piazza w/ monumental fountain surrounded by shops, café, & market. Trompe l’oeil storefronts described Denise’s life & work!

VSBA designed this art installation at the Cumberland Mall in South Jersey in conjunction with local historical, planning, and tourism groups. Riffing on the idea of street art, we shaped the display to be social, informational, playful, and astonishing within its mall setting.

Next in our short series of graphics-jazzed projects: the Oculus at the Bayshore Center -- which uses a transparent panel to illustrate a Revolutionary War battle overlaid on its location!

Here's another graphics-gleeful project: the West Jersey Time Traveler Signage! The Cumberland County Cultural and Heritage Commission asked VSBA to conceive signage identifying historical sites and linking to related podcasts.

For 10 years VSBA helped Storm King Art Center develop broad options for future growth -- studying the interrelation of art, landscape, architecture, circulation, parking, amenities, & other systems and activities as they relate to visitor experience & internal function.

VSBA planned with Villanova to promote academic & cultural facilities, plan residences, & plan safe pedestrian circulation. Since our work VU has completed a major campus expansion of residential & mixed-use activity, including a new performing arts center.
