Hokies lead the nation in College Student Pre-Commissioning Initiative (CSPI) scholarships awarded by the U.S. Coast Guard. Among just 28 recipients nationwide this year, five cadets from the Corps were selected, marking a significant achievement for the Corps and Virginia Tech.

We’re grateful to retired U.S. Army Col. Greg Gadson for joining us during our Cutchins Leadership Lecture series to share his story of leadership and perseverance, drawing on his decades of service and recovery after losing both legs in an IED attack in 2007.

It’s Last Damn Rat Belt Day! As first-year cadets move into Gold Phase, they leave the white belt behind. A classic Corps tradition, the Last Damn Rat Belt captures the signatures of their buds and is a memento to reflect on the accomplishments of their first year as a cadet.

We are excited to share that cadets and students representing Virginia Tech took 3rd place at the NSA Cyber Exercise (NCX) last week, beating all other senior military colleges and a few service academies, too!

The 2026 winner of our annual Jaffe Eager Squad competition is...we can’t tell you yet. BUT - we can tell you that these companies all looked sharp and their hard work this semester was evident yesterday on the drill pad. We look forward to announcing the winner later this month.

Our cadets were proud to represent Virginia Tech at the International Forum for Peace, Security & Prosperity in Palermo, Italy, which brought together cadets and civilians from over 20 countries to foster collaboration and the exchange of ideas across cultures and disciplines.

Serving as the secretary of veterans and defense affairs for the Commonwealth of Virginia, Corps alum Tim Williams '84 is the definition of Ut Prosim. news.vt.edu/articles/2026/…
