Our theme for the 25-26 academic year is "Making Home," which is what we've been doing for our year in 1021 while 1001 gets some long-needed upgrades.

Wonderful evening at the @WashingtonDCAIA for the 2nd Annual Student Showcase. The team from @VT_WAAC presented their @SolarDecathlon Design Challenge proposal for much-needed housing for @virginia_tech students in the DC area. Joined by @CUArch @udc_edu @HowardU and @UMd.

Meet Dani Juarez, a Virginia Tech Architecture master’s student at @VT_WAAC. With an arts background, she’s passionate about hands-on making in her architecture work and creates her own materials from scratch including paper, clay, graphite, charcoal, ink, and watercolor. 🖼️

We're taking on the Solar Decathlon Design challenge again this spring, once more proposing that high-performance building is not only compatible with a historic context, but uniquely appropriate. 11 students, 1 project.

The signs are everywhere--it's Studio Final Review Week!

@maustermuhle Skip the AI--Look at what the architecture and urban design students in the area are envisioning! The DC area has five professional schools of architecture, and imagining is their job.

I went down a bit of a rabbit hole recently on what AI image generators imagine D.C. would look like in 20-50 years. There seems to be consensus that the Height Act will be gone. Other possibilities: a monorail of sorts, a second U.S. Capitol, and lots of flying vehicles.

It's that time of year again--the end of the semester. Come celebrate with us, Friday, Dec 13, from 5:30-ish to 8:00-ish. Student work on the walls, Bittersweet catering in the Red Room, WAAC Band in the Library, and alumni all over the place!

Thank you, @AIANOVA School Connections Committee for selecting the winning coffee mugs! Three students go into break with a little extra cash, and we have our production set for next year!
