It is a bittersweet day to say goodbye to all of my amazing students as I go off on maternity leave! They have all grown so much this year and should be proud of their hard work! I can't wait to hear how their learning progresses with their new teacher over the next few months!

This week we started our poetry unit and created poetry books that we will be adding to each week. Our first poems were haikus, where we focused on descriptive language and using our 5 senses to describe spring! Here are some beautifully written examples! #CBELiteracy

This week in Math, students were introduced to fractions! Students noticed they saw the concept of fractions in a lot of their foods so we decided to share our favourite snacks and represent them using fractions!

Inspired by the #DavPilkey presentation we had on Monday, students spent the week creating comic book characters inspired by themselves! Now they are writing descriptive paragraphs using different adjectives to provide more details about their crime-fighting heroes! #CBELiteracy

This week, we started our "Design Your Own Country Project." Students were tasked with creating a name, flag, and currency for their country. In the coming weeks, they will create maps and come up with their own native language! #CBEHub

Today our Grade 3/4s hosted a debate. 4 students represented each side and confidently stood before their peers and some available staff members to share their persuasive arguments. Do you think Grade 3/4s should have homework everyday?

Seismic Shake Up! Students learned all about earthquakes and created research paragraphs about these deadly natural disasters. They were then tasked to create buildings that would withstand a shake test! Many used support pillars, truss systems, and wide bases in their designs.
