Each year, I love celebrating the fact that #CTEMonth and #BlackHistoryMonth2026 are together. The first person I want shout out is Madam CJ Walker, America’s first black millionaire with a business/marketing program of cosmetology products. Tonight, @HenricoSchools celebrated its 35 new Nationally Board Certified teachers (NBCT) along with several renewals and many other teachers completing a specialization. This was tops in the Commonwealth of VA. I am extremely proud that many teachers from @HenricoCTE were recognized. Only about 4% of teachers nationwide achieve NBCT status and the specialization program is equivalent to a graduate school program. Phenomenal job by our PL team! I was able to capture many of our teachers, but not all! @ACEatHermitage @ACE_Center_HS @ACECenterVR

Had an amazing time today being a guest speaker for the middle school @VAFBLA @FBLA_National. Ms. Lee, one of our teachers at Tucker HS had the idea of bringing middle school FBLA students together throughout @HenricoSchools and having the high school FBLA students lead! Yesterday was a great celebration of a great man. I met Coach when I was 14 years old and now 30 years later I can say he was one of my best friends; as he was to many. Many teachers and coaches come and go…but few are involved enough in your life to be at your wedding, come to your kids games, re-grip your putter for you and leave it at your front door, and so much more…including his stories which always seemed to be more exaggerated as the years went by! In 2023 I was honored to be inducted into the Springer Wall of Fame. Any guesses as to who nominated me?
