Is Chief Minister Joseph Vijay transforming Tamil Nadu into a land of real social justice? Recently, CM Vijay declared that the population census is vital for planning Tamil Nadu's future development. This is indeed a very important and positive development because the last complete population census conducted in Tamil Nadu, and throughout India, was in 2011, which was a very long time ago. Now, the question is whether CM Vijay will stop with the population census or progress towards a caste census, which has been a sensitive subject left untouched by almost all political parties, including BJP. If CM Vijay decides to conduct a caste census as well, it would truly be path-breaking from a social justice standpoint because we would then know the actual representation of each community within the current population and how proportionately each community has been represented in politics. For example, for a long time, Brahmins had no representation in the Assembly. CM Vijay was the one who gave MLA seats to Brahmins and appointed them as Ministers as well. The Dravidian parties have always been partial towards the communities that backed them while ignoring the rest. For example, ADMK has traditionally favored the Vellala Gounder and Mukkulathor communities, whereas DMK has traditionally favoured the Telugu communities. CM Vijay is the only one who has covered the entire social spectrum, from Dalits, minorities, and OBCs to Brahmins. Since he has already demonstrated that he walks the talk when it comes to social justice, I wouldn’t be surprised if he pushes for a caste census. If CM Vijay can achieve this, it would mean that he is likely to transform Tamil Nadu into a land of real social justice. Let fake social justice be eradicated! போலி சமூக நீதி ஒழியட்டும்!
