@ValakhP I love city builder, instant like. As someone who create a city builder too, care to connect?

Having some fun lately testing new features. It feels like the game started being much more interesting and solid. Here is a part of my internal recordings. There have been a lot of changes, and I want to share a lot, but I don't want to spoil it with a lot of UI placeholders 🥲

@ValakhP This is looking fantastic - style is great, and love the people movement, gives it a great lively feel. What engine are you using for this btw?

@ValakhP Seems like your post got some engagement after you wrote that, but still... Have you considered creating accounts on Bluesky and Mastodon? Back when I still posted actively here, I eventually got much lower numbers here than over there, despite having more followers here.

Playing my game in an early MVP. There were a lot of changes and experiments, and I think the core of the gameplay is settled now. This year I'd like to refine everything into a solid pre-demo state: content, bugs, balance, QoL, UI, sound... #screenshotsaturday

@ValakhP sounds like a grind but lowkey exciting. what's the toughest part so far? gameplay tweaks or dealing with the never-ending bugs?

@ciefa_eth Thank you! I created it as soon as I saw interest from other people and visuals were not too bad. I got in contact with game journals and asked to make an announcement article about the game and it worked. I prepared trailer, description, capsule art and screenshots.

@ValakhP This looks super cute! :D One question, how early in development did you get the Steam page setup and what was needed for it? Wishlisting the game for sure, gives me old settler vibes :D

@1tweetolder Thank you. There were some ideas about that, but I dropped them as they'll take a lot of time bringing not so much value. Unfortunately, that's not uncommon - working in your spare time you need to sacrifice something in order to finish the project not in 10 years

@ValakhP Looks great! Have you considered enhancing the fencing mechanics? Double fences on nearby buildings look wrong. Nobody put 2 fences side by side ;)

Fair enough, crazy secondary idea. Can you draw two types of buildings next to each other to get cool hybrids? Like maybe a 2x2 house next to a 2x2 restaurant could create a "bed and breakfast" motel. This idea for drawing the buildings just seems so novel, would be really cool to see you expand on it.

@ValakhP This seems closer to a finished vertical slice at the least. Why do you call it an MVP? Or is that what an MVP is expected to be nowadays in Gamdev?

@DeveloperPerso3 Thanks! I was thinking about something like that long time ago, but it didn't fit my vision. Although.. the game will have a fraction of this logic. It will matter, how you draw the shape of the building, but it will influence on nuances, not the core basics

Love this! What might be kinda neat, is if you didn't even really have a menu, but different shaped block outs chose different buildings. Like if a 2x2 grid was a farm, 1x1 was a house, 1x2, a hotel. Maybe have 3 types of grids colors like in sim city, green for residential, blue for commercial, and yellow for industry. And from there you could have the player unlock new shapes for new building types, some could even not be rectangular like a 2x 4 with 2 coming off the side: XXXX XXXX XX Could for example be a mansion. Would be sorta similar to how crafting in Minecraft worked, and people loved that. Just an idea!
