More than 30,000 foreign nationals displaced by xenophobic attacks in South Africa are now dependent on local authorities for shelter, food, water and sanitation.
Those affected are reported to include migrants from Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Malawi, Ghana, Nigeria, Somalia and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The mass displacement has placed additional pressure on municipal resources as authorities work to accommodate thousands forced to flee their homes.
