@TypicalGamer @jogo We need to ship a number of missing UEFN features so that anyone can build comparable games in these genres, and do it better than we did. These projects currently rely on complex UE5 C++ code in a number of areas that needs to be continually maintained.

I’m going to go ahead and say how I feel. This is just my personal opinion but from what I have seen, I feel the Fortnite team have made a season where, on reflection, Season 2 will be considered a top 5 of *ALL TIME* contender when it’s over. Bookmark this! 🤝 🔖

He was the lead person behind Ch7 DBNO Ragdoll and Driveable Reboot Vans
"Using Unreal I built and shipped challenging new gameplay features for Fortnite. I was feature lead and primary IC for the highly acclaimed Drivable Reboot Van Vehicle and Down But Not Out Actions in Fortnite: Chapter 7, including movement mode extensions for player ragdoll movement, dodge-rolling, and mantling. As the primary vision holder and feature owner, I coordinated with all dependency teams: including art, production, engineering, QA, and product development to ensure we shipped high quality features that would drive engagement and evolve Fortnite: Battle Royale."

In the coming days, employers will see a stream of resumes of once-in-a-lifetime quality folks. An important thing to understand is that Epic never lowered our hiring standards as we grew, and the layoff wasn't a performance-based "rightsizing" as companies call it nowadays. It's a sound bet that anyone with Epic Games on their resume is in the top few percent of their discipline.

today has been a whirlwind of emotions.
thank you, genuinely, to everyone that’s reached out to me today (a former coworker even sent me a milkshake). i’m still going through them all (and will continue to do so). reading how much you all appreciate my work has been so surprising and uplifting on such a shitty day.
i’m really, really going to miss making cool stuff happen for our players. that was the guiding principle behind everything i ever did.
seeing how many of my former colleagues are as confused as i am about my departure is definitely validating too.
i’m very grateful (and thankful) to also already have many studio leads and recruiters reaching out about roles they’d like me for.
i’m gonna go grab a beer and watch the rest of the canes game. 💚🦖
