Jeff Jackson says that he thinks Belmont could have been an NCAA Tournament team if they didn’t lose to Drake 😂😂😂😂😂 Andy Katz closes the interview with “obviously all good news” LMAO
Missouri Valley Conference@MVCsports

@TheAndyKatz sits with MVC Commissioner Jeff Jackson to talk through the expanded format of #ArchMadness -- logistics, synergy, The North Star. One Week. One City. One Championship Celebration. #ItBeginsHere

@tmlemaster Likely means the Bulls don’t take the unathletic Stirtz. I think he will be a good role player so if the Bulls take him they are breaking their rule and saying they think everything else about him is special. The way he sees the game is certainly far ahead of his peers

@ValleyRunsDeep 92.3% agree. I want the best player who’s going to fit the Bulls new philosophy of size and athleticism. Should be a lot of those options at 15.

What I want the Chicago Bulls to do the in 2026 NBA draft Pick 4 Love: Any of the top 4 Hate: Anything else Pick 15 Love: Lendeborg/Morez/Stirtz/Swain Neutral: Steinbach/Carr/Lopez Hate: Cenac/JQ/Ament/Peat

@BravesEnjoyerBU No. It’s not retroactive to 25/26. But over 50 lawsuits have already begun to be filed so it could still potentially happen

With NCAA giving players 5 years now does that mean Ahmet Jonovic can come back?

@NinHendogs The MVC tournament being a gauntlet that has tested teams by throwing them into the fire has given us better tournament success than other similarly ranked conferences

@ValleyRunsDeep I’d argue it makes it more likely a team susceptible to poor tourney performance will make it

2024 Indiana State lost on Sunday to the 2 seed Drake. They still miss the 2024 tournament under this format while losing to the 2 seed Drake. This doesn’t create 2 bids or give the MVC a greater chance to win a game in the NCAA tournament. EL OH EL Jeff Jackson
Aaron Ferguson@Sports_Aaron

Other highlights: -Possibility of hosting women's and men's NCAAT games in same weekend wasn't a reason for combining the tournaments. -Doesn't see much of a change for leaving last place at home or double-byes: Cited Indiana State, Belmont as potential at-larges that missed.

@bruinsdenBU I disagree with adding the (s) at the end of team. I believe that Belmont should have been in the NCAA tournament over SMU. Unfortunately any result outside of winning Arch Madness Belmont misses the tournament. This doesn’t meaningfully improve the odds we get a 2nd bid

@ValleyRunsDeep As an mvc fan, I feel understood by the schools voting for this decision. I couldn’t care less about upsets in arch madness. March madness is really all that matters, and this helps bring the best team(s) of the year to March.

You can take the school out of the OVC but you can’t take the OVC out of the school. Anyone that voted for this doesn’t understand their own fans, MVC fans in general, or where MVC ranks in the NCAA Tournament selection committees minds. Not understanding that is fireable
Valley Madness@MVCMadness

RUMOR: This is how the voting broke down between the MVC schools for the change to the Arch Madness Tournament Yes: Belmont (obviously) Indiana State UIC Murray State Drake Valpo SIU No: Illinois State UNI Bradley UE

Absolutely incredible that the commish would make a move like this and say what amounts to “I don’t pay attention to the fans” this was done purely for money by people that care more about the business side than the basketball side. And the chances it makes them more $ are slim
Eli Hoover@ejh_2002

MVC Commissioner Jeff Jackson when asked about the social media backlash to the Arch Madness change: "I don't pay attention to social media, so you'll have to tell me what they said." I think we might have found one of the issues

This kills what made Arch Madness great. Seeing a top seed potentially knocked out early really did make it feel like anyone could win it on any given year. Now it is just win once and you're in the championship game. In that, it does several things that could likely decrease fan attendance: First, it doesn't have the allure moving forward for lower seeds as the statistical probabilities just dropped drastically. If my team is the 9-10 seed, I probably now just opt to watch via streaming. For example, previously if you're the 9 seed, you beat 8 and then you get to take on the top dog and set your fate. Now you'd have to beat 4th, then likely the 5th, then get to play the top dog. Second, if there are now four games on Thursday, fans are much less likely to stick around the entire session. IIRC, it started at 3:30 and last game tipped at 8:30-9ish already. Now the day will have to start at noon. Lastly, if the top 2 seeds don't have to participate until Saturday, you're now making Thursday completely optional and potentially losing butts in the seats. Your opponent scout now happens on Friday. Especially bad when it is likely that the top teams probably have the highest fan attendance. Look, I get wanting to try to protect your top seeds but if they truly are the best in the league, they should be able to wipe the bottom of the league in their "tune up" game.

If a team from the MVC wins a game in next year’s NCAA Tournament it will not be because they tarnished Arch Madness. It will be because we are the MVC and most seasons we pull off an upset before this change was ever made
