@EatonAsh13 @auautumntumn @CanadianPolling @338Canada It’s not that hard to believe when you remember that Carney is essentially governing as a progressive conservative. That may not be enough to overcome the Liberal brand’s issues in Saskatchewan, but outside the west it’s a different story.

@auautumntumn @CanadianPolling @338Canada Perhaps, just seems very hard to believe to me. I guess there are some very moderate conservatives in eastern Canada that could potentially vote liberal. Conservatives in my area that would absolutely never in a million years happen.

@scotty_bowman @VoiceOfFranky If we need "everyone at their best and ready to contribute" then we have to empower everyone to be able to take those very risks you speak of. We aren't doing that. Our failure in that regard is going to lead to desire for intervention. All to say -- can you really blame em?

@scotty_bowman @VoiceOfFranky When housing is unaffordable, the CoL high, wages uncoupled with productivity, etc etc etc, the wealthy have to come to terms with the fact that people are going to be angry. Making an assertion about wealth taxes leading to "jobs drying up" just isn't going to fly with people.

Our polling showed a major shift to favouring more active government and taxing the wealthy. This was much stronger amongst under 40 voters where LPC were struggling. CPC can't go there . Could be a game changer.

This is good rage bait but I can’t really be fussed. God forbid good paying jobs exist! the sunshine list should be indexed to inflation… 100k ain’t what it used to be — let’s focus on pulling people up, not pushing others down #onpoli
Colin D'Mello | Global News@ColinDMello

There are more than 3,000 Metrolinx employees on the sunshine list this year who pull in a total of $410,117,370 in salaries and 1,720,710 in benefits. In March 2023, Metrolinx reported a total headcount of 6,000 employees. About half the workforce earns six figures. #onpoli

@JazminP11426 I guess the question to me is whether hiking the Carbon tax in April is salvageable policy, or if Trudeau should acquiesce and abandon the hike. I ask it from the perspective of someone, like I said, generally pro Carbon tax but… questioning the merits of an April increase.

I’m pro Carbon tax, generally. If nothing else, it was easier to be so when we were *not* in a cost of living crisis. Although I sometimes question whether imposing costs in Canada really affects global climate goals when others don’t follow suit, I get it.

Probably the best defence is this — that not increasing or repealing the Carbon Tax would benefit the wealthy at cost to the bottom half of earners. And I know the Liberals have long stressed that, but their messaging on that point has failed drastically.

This is not an ideal world. And while I have no love lost for the LPC, I’d rather not have PP be Prime Minister, tbh. I dunno. Can’t make up my mind here. Smarter people than me, thoughts? #cdnpoli

Comms and politics are hard, but how do you not predict backlash to "we won't invest in roads" I don't care if you pour half our GDP into transit, the infrastructure here sucks, and will continue to suck. Kinda need roads still lol

I am all for investing in transit and whatnot, and adding additional lanes to roads doesn't solve gridlock... That said, Guilbeault is such a liability lol -- the most tone deaf statements imaginable from this guy
Prabmeet Sarkaria@PrabSarkaria

“Our government has made the decision to stop investing in new road infrastructure.”   The federal government should ask how Ontarians sitting in gridlock every day trying to get home to their families feel about this.   montrealgazette.com/news/local-new…
