@aria_gerson 100% I think you sign as many transfer pitchers as you can get. Lack of proven starters was what derailed this season. Banking on Nye, Shorey, and Taylor who all didn’t have weekend starting experience.

@VandyAll Yeah I'm not saying the transfer starters HAVE to be in the weekend rotation, but they have to at least have the ability to start (can't be pure relievers) as insurance for injuries etc.

I think Nye would've been that, and Shorey could've been too but they both missed most of the season. Vandy absolutely needs at least 2, preferably 3 pitchers from the portal who are proven strike-throwers with the ability to start games, since Nye/Shorey health isn't guaranteed
oneonone@guruarm

@aria_gerson I liked the team to start the year but I knew we didn’t have any starters like in the years past. There was no Cunningham, Devin or Holton anywhere . Reload the staff and the bats should be there next year.

@aria_gerson I feel like as many innings as they gave the freshman this year you really hope at least two of them become starters but bring in at least two transfer starters as well to compete with them so that you have options

The solution to the rotation can't be freshmen, either. Even if Joseph Contreras and/or Bo Holloway makes it to campus, the third starter spot can't be penciled in to be them in an era where SEC teams have gone almost completely away from starting true freshman pitchers

@GoogsMc Agreed. I think Grisanti may be on the chopping block this off season if changes are made. We’ll see though

My one longstanding critique of Tim Corbin is that he hasn’t really demonstrated either an ability or willingness to go get the absolutely best coach for a position. He has repeatedly gone with Vanderbilt baseball alums (Baxter, Esposito, Coleman, etc).
Russ@615__Russ

@GoodTimesArie @GoogsMc @comradCornelius Brown/Grisanti on a very very short leash. Their pitching evals have to be better from the portal, and all due respect Fennell is a Sunday starter, forced into Fridays on a typical Vandy team. Grisanti may be a ex player that’s not really qualified for his role

It wasn’t all Corbin’s fault but for a coach who usually tries to schedule very difficult I can’t believe Vandy ended up with the 249 NCSOS. That’s what absolutely sunk the RPI. The season was basically over before we even played an SEC game
PEARatings@PEARatings

Vanderbilt should also not be in. A NCSOS of 249 is egregious and 9 of their 15 SEC wins came from the bottom 4 teams by seeding. 1-5 in conference series outside those 4. Worst overall SOS in the SEC. Vandy hoping DSR holds a LOT of weight for this committee.

Well the decline is complete. Now we wait to see if they can fix it or if the ship has sailed. It starts with can Corbin put together enough NIL money to get some of these true impact recruits through the draft.

Kentucky should not be in with a 2-8 SEC series record with series losses to Missouri, South Carolina, LSU, and Vanderbilt - the bottom 4 teams by seeding, not including Kentucky. And yet, the metrics love them.

Tim Corbin talks about how his team is 20-12 in the back half after the slow 13-12 start. “RPI is not the one indicator” It doesn’t show how things happened.

Kentucky lost series to the bottom 3 teams in the league and to the 12th place team. They’re not an NCAA tournament team.

@KendallRogers @UKBaseball I don’t understand why they’re considered ahead of Vandy. Dores are 3-1 against them with a better sec record and better overall record. Do the games just not matter because of the made up RPI number next to the names?

Kentucky, which entered the SEC tournament with 13 league wins and just two series wins, goes one and out in the #SEC tournament with a loss to Vanderbilt. The Wildcats are 11-12 vs. Q1/Q2 teams, but do have a solid RPI of 34. @UKBaseball will need stolen bids to be very limited this week.

I don’t understand why Kentucky is considered bubble in at 13-17 when we beat them 2/3 in Lexington and are 14-16 and were considered definitely out. I understand with a 16 team conference schedules are unbalanced but the two teams played each other!
