Haven't posted in a long time but feel the duty to report that #Autowa finally got me. Driver took me over just before trying to do a right turn and they immediately slammed on the brakes coming to a full stop without giving me any chance to react. So I kissed the trunk 1/

@rjfauxwoke While the driver was at fault, the painted bike lane enabled the crash. Pretty sure it would not had happened if there was a separated bike lane (real infrastructure) because both the driver and I would have been forced to act differently.

@PlanteSteph613 The first days of winter biking are always magic even though your legs might need some time adjust to snowy/slushy roads & studded tires. At the end of the season or when you have no choice but to bike 8km at -30 or during a 15+ cm snow storm to ref a game, I sometimes hate it.

It's ironic that the city applied salt to the bike lane ahead of the first snow storm of the season but hasn't come out in the fall to remove all the leaves, that are a slip hasard when wet. #OttBike

I see potential for a large outdoor rink at this site. It doesn't look like construction will start anytime soon as the developer doesn't seem to be willing to pay for the removal of contaminated soil without funding from the city.

@Laskinator2 Nowadays, I only report vehicle or infrastructure problems if there's a safety hazard or if the driver/situation really pisses me off. I used to report more but it felt like a waste of time. Not the type of volunteer work I'd do for the city.

The sidewalk on the other side of the street was damaged during the construction of a home because construction workers would always park their vehicles on the sidewalk. x.com/VanierDe/statu…

@bikeviewca Yes, it is! Photo on the left is from July 2019 before construction, the one on the right is from May 2022 after most of construction was done.
