At the risk of looking like I'm virtue signaling (ok, maybe a little), I just sponsored @VanillaOSLinux . Go sponsor your open source dependencies! It's important. Vanilla OS is the first consumer level OS I've used since Windows that's actually worth sponsoring. You can join me at: github.com/sponsors/Vanil…

Bottles' 9th Anniversary 🥳! We’re celebrating with a feature that goes beyond anything seen before: Eagle. It makes the user experience even smoother, like a friend who helps you understand Windows executions and shows you exactly how to get them running. It's not GNOME, it's not KDE, it's not the new Vanilla OS DE, it's new, uses <100M of memory, is accessible (for real) and uses GTK4 (but not libadwaita). In case the video got ultra-compressed by X, see it in my Mastodon./social account. #Linux #Windows #OpenSource #FOSS

@PghRezident Could you open an issue in our GitHub? We do not have a printer like that for testing but it's worth tracking the issue ☺️

This is the experience we are looking for <3

I am REALLY impressed with @VanillaOSLinux so far (and, no, they're not paying me to say this!) If I weren't a developer, I wouldn't have needed to enter a single command to set up or use my software or hardware (although the initial OS installation is a bit scary, as it would be for any operating system after the fact). That's mind-blowing. Vanilla takes care of system updates (and protects you from mayhem if things go wrong), and the Gnome app store automatically checks for updates to software you install there. GSConnect was already installed (I think) and it automatically connected to the KDE Connect app I had already installed on my phone when I went through the torture of trying to get this to work on Qubes. It just worked instantly after I paired my phone to the laptop. ZERO configuration. THIS is what Microsoft fears. Seriously, if you don't mind making a few switches, this is the OS to get. (Linux is no slouch. Many packages are available to use, and are as good, if not better than their Windows counterparts. For example, OnlyOffice is extremely adept at handling Office documents...) Give it a try! I'm planning on donating to these guys. It's a worthwhile cause... Nice!

@PghRezident Cups is already installed by default and the majority of printers should work out of the box 🤔 maybe that one requires a specific driver. What did you install with ABRoot? You can check with abroot pkg list 😌

Everything is great except i can't add my 7 year old Canon printer. It just installs a generic printer driver. I've tried setting up that Gutenprint thing, the IPPUSB thing, using abroot to install cups or whatever, but nothing has worked. I had this working with Linux Mint and Qubes, so i know there's support out there! Any suggestions?
