Lo que vimos en las redes contra Argentina durante este Mundial es digno de análisis. El rechazo deportivo se transformó en una causa moral. No alcanzaba con querer que Argentina perdiera porque era campeona, porque despertaba envidia o porque su forma intensa de vivir el fútbol resultaba irritante para otros. Había que justificar ese rechazo, volverlo legítimo y presentarlo como una batalla entre buenos y malos. A partir de hechos individuales, recortes fuera de contexto, interpretaciones tendenciosas y directamente mentiras, se fue construyendo la imagen de un país entero como racista, xenófobo, colonizador y moralmente inferior. La identidad argentina quedó reducida a una caricatura útil para justificar el rechazo. La rivalidad futbolística dejó de ser 'quiero que pierdan' y pasó a formularse como 'quiero que pierdan porque representan algo malo'. El mecanismo fue perversamente eficaz: cualquier reacción nuestra era utilizada como una nueva confirmación de la acusación. Todo podía incorporarse al mismo relato. De ese modo, miles de personas terminaron insultándonos, despreciándonos y deseándonos el mal, convencidas de que actuaban por una causa justa. Lo más paradójico fue que sintieran que ese ODIO hacia nosotros era una forma de combatir el odio que en teoría representamos (?). Esto nos muestra lo fácil y peligroso que puede ser manipular a las masas: basta con construir un enemigo, repetir una versión simplificada de la realidad y revestir el rechazo de superioridad moral para imponer una agenda que termine aceptándose sin pruebas, sin matices y casi sin cuestionamientos.
