It is a good idea to give the minority leader more rights. It is absurd how McConnell blocked bills & protected his colleagues from openly voting down popular bills. Or that in 2016-17 there were no investigations of Trump. Let's do this in a bill that goes into effect in 2025.

@jeneps That is big. No more corporations, who are allowed to bribe politicians, that have an interest in locking up as many Americans as possible.

@Femi_Sorry I guess this shows how uniquely bad the UK media is. In the German press it was clear that the situation around Northern Ireland was a Gordian Brexit knot. A good excuse would be that at referendum time many talked about a moderate Brexit, not the implemented extreme Tory Brexit.

The fact that I didn't know Brexit would affect Northern Ireland when I voted in 2016 means that despite studying EU law in 2 universities/languages, my vote was ignorant. I just got lucky. That's why I'll always say the blame lies with those who still supported Brexit in 2019.

@DavidPepper Well, in America "moderate" means doing what the donors want. That is what "moderate", i.e. corporate, Dems & Republicans agree on. Portman is leaving because the corporate donors are not willing to finance the too openly Fascist Republican party as much any more. #BadBrand

@joelockhart I am oppressed. I am super muzzled. I do not even have an article in the New York Post. Looking forward to Sen. Hawley' plans to give everyone equal access.

@wokewaifu @christian_nesf A 1000 people poll does mean something. You should just take the uncertainty into account. No idea how good polling in France is, but likely 3 or 4% uncertainty.

@christian_nesf In France there are 2 rounds of voting. One can call it a "plurality"; I think calling it 26% is the clearest. TIL that in the UK the term relative majority is used, which sometimes is abbreviated to majority. This will be misunderstood internationally. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plurality…

@kristianpagh @ruth_mottram @martincollignon @ClnHz People should get more sun, but that is not the question here. The decrease in vitamin D concentrations is only a few percent per month in autumn. And there is a huge spread from person to person. How does that explain a sudden take off in the number of positive infection cases?

@kristianpagh @ruth_mottram @martincollignon @ClnHz The claim is for the starting date of the surge in positive cases in all of Europe, not just for higher latitudes. Is Sweden included in the "higher latitudes"? I would call this modest and gradual changes in Vit. D concentrations: twitter.com/VariabilityBlo…

@gjcats @ruth_mottram One of my favorite German science channels just did a video on Vitamin D. youtube.com/watch?v=ud9d5c… It showed a study on the seasonal cycle of Vit. D in Sweden. It is much smaller than the variability in the population. Looks like storage does a lot. ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/P…

@ruth_mottram @martincollignon @ClnHz Although, when I hit reply, and started thinking, as humans often do, I realized that also UV is very gradual. The main problem of the study may be that it is not pre-registered. Did we see the same earlier in the Southern hemisphere? Do we see the same for US states?

@ruth_mottram @martincollignon @ClnHz I guess we can exclude Vitamin D as a reason. It is a fat soluble vitamin with a massive storage, if that were the reason there would not be a clear jump, but a very smooth change. UV kills viruses. That might be part of it.
