Some updates to my game project. Gameplay - Started blocking out a Wall Ride and Wall Jump mechanic, the wall ride fells good, the Wall Jump is very janky. Camera movement and shooting while wallriding feels horrible. More polished version will follow. Lighting - I dumped Lumen and started using whatever non Lumen thing Unreal used before. Lighting got visibly worse (my fault not the engine), but no more pixel flickering on far objects and big performance gains. A bit more practice and I'll get better looking frames. Cheers!

@sabtherobot Because they get off on the humiliation ritual of firing a guy and replacing them with a human shaped machine. Most of waste in operating anything is in the C suite but that part they wont touch.

Sebastian - Looking for Work!
Everytime i see something like this its so baffeling because , if you were gonna automate a job like this, why on earth would you use a humanoid robot design? Why would i not have some mounted machine that could do this at 10 times the speed and not risk loosing balance??

If you aren't enjoying the process is because you are still aiming higher than your current skill and that is good. Learning and or practicing with intention is extremely tiring and energy intensive. Good news that aren't really good news is at one point things you are done enough gets cheaper energy wise, so you'll be able to spend that energy on more complicated things :D

Little vent. It feels so hard mentally to continue as an artist these days. After all these years I still haven't figured out how to enjoy the process of drawing, and now with the rise of AI and the state of art it feels like there's nothing I can do to make art worth the pain.

@TheRoyalSkies If its a game model triangles are fine. I would do something like this for a local fix. you can probably relax the mesh a big and even kill those loops for good up top. having no triangles.

@Pature111 Ok hear me out, I know there's no ngon here, but I recommend this for the corner. Like those two really really close edge loops at the tip are less ideal. Wouldn't do the topo exactly like this since it's a paintover of the relaxed isolines, but you can use the same layout

When id Software published Wolfenstein 3D (before my time), the way to find the secrets was to walk all around the level, bumping into every wall. When I joined id Software, John Romero told me that Doom would be different. One of the fundamental rules was that EVERY secret in Doom had to have a hint. The wall might have a different texture, or be offset. Or something. Looking back, John didn't always follow his own rule, but I did. One of my favorite secrets was only visible on the minimap, where I hid an arrow pointing directly at the secret door. The arrow wasn't visible in the real world. You can see it below. Partly because of John's rule, I feel that no trap in any game, even a tabletop roleplaying game like Call of Cthulhu or D&D, should just go POP! and surprise the players. There ought always be a clue. Maybe the deadly door handle is shaped like a cobra head. Maybe there is green liquid dripping from the chest's lock. Maybe the super valuable treasure is atop a glowing pedestal with no obvious wards or barriers (I've used this one a lot).

Huge overhaul to the SFX! (Acceleration movement is back and pairs VERY well with fury!) Let me know what you think as this was insane to learn about and I may be tone deaf now lol SFX is now up there with UI in terms of the most difficult stuff.
