Too many people in their 30s and 40s are afraid of being out of step with the youth. You *should* be out of step with the youth. You need to be discovering very niche genres of music. You need to develop a fixation with an historical era. Welcome to being gloriously uncool.

if you’re not highly protected or running serious security details, read this carefully: 1. never take pictures outside your gate and post them, your gate is a map. 2. blur your plate number when posting your car or better, don’t post it at all. 3. if you must show lifestyle, never expose your house, not the exterior, not the interior, not the entrance or exit. vlogging is not oversharing. 4. stop announcing your location in real time... just landed, i’m here, pulling up = all breadcrumbs for anyone watching you... post after you leave, not before or during. 5. be careful posting your family, especially your kids... love is private and safety is priceless. even if you think you are broke, understand you’re still an asset, your organs are insanely expensive so protect your privacy, you must. repost, bookmark and share, someone you know might need this. buena suerte. 👍

DO NOT POST IN REAL TIME - Tag the restaurant when you leave. Not while you're eating. - The photo goes up after the flight. Not from the seat. - Show the hotel once you've already left. Not while you're sleeping there. - Not everything has to be live. Not everything needs an audience. - The internet doesn't need to know where you are, who you're with, or what you're doing in real time. - Protect your energy and what's still taking shape. - Live first, post later. The moment is yours, only

I am the most accomplished Singaporean author you've never heard of. Hugo and Dragon Award nominated author, the first in Singapore. 20 novels across multiple genres. Singapore doesn't care. I write the wrong kind of stories for Singaporean publishers. I have the wrong identity markers for foreign publishers. I have the wrong politics for most Singaporeans, including the Singaporean writing scene. Small wonder that my own country has only heard my name a handful of times, most recently when my own government sought to cancel me. In my younger days I tried building a 'social circle' of my peers. Everyone I found were, without exception, hobbyists. There's nothing wrong with that, but if you want to be a professional, you cannot think like a hobbyist. You have to think about things like distribution and market demand and income, and so many other things that simply aren't on the hobbyist's radar. The one group I used to be a part of quickly fell apart after two of the members started dating and got married to each other. A third member wrote the right kind of story, so she was published, and so for a brief, glorious moment, she was a shooting star, burning out just as other rocks fell from the heavens. By every measure and KPI the government uses to measure art, I have accomplished little. What grants and funds I may apply for by way of the NAC is hostage to their whims, and unlike my fellow creators, I expect there to be no one who will speak for me if those monies were pulled. And why wouldn't they be pulled? Why would they even be granted to one such as I? Singapore is built on the logic of the technocrat, the engineer, the assembly line worker. Without credentials, without social proof, without the ability to keep your head down and do as you are told and ask no questions, you are as nothing. To be an author in Singapore is to choose one of the hardest paths that exist in the country. Hard enough if you seek to publish but one book. Harder still if you write the right stories and seek to make something of a career out of it. For someone like me? You write because you are a madman or because you are called to it. No other reason will sustain you.

it can be alienating to (try to) be a writer/artist in sg bc your social circle is made up of ppl you would never have crossed paths with in school… an educated class who have enjoyed opportunities and awards reserved for the cream of the crop

STEM and the arts are so often pitted against each other nowadays. It would seem nonsensical to Leonardo da Vinci, who was both an artist and an engineer. We need science to improve life, and art to give meaning to it. It’s a partnership, not a war.

One of the darker moments of XWP in my opinion. Xena had the option to save Callisto and instead, she let her sink into the quicksand. Xena’s killed before in her warlord days or in self defense but this? To allow Callisto to die when she could’ve prevented it definitely provided a huge roadblock in morality during her journey to redemption. Granted, Callisto did kill Gabrielle’s husband and we know Xena is going to step behind Gabby every time but Callisto begging for her life and Xena just watching her sink into the quicksand was cold af. This arc really challenged the status quo of what a hero is suppose to mean and what lines are they actually willing to cross. They don’t make em like this anymore! ⚔️

I hate that it’s always “please get help, please talk to someone” and there’s never actually anyone who can help. No one takes insurance. Out of pocket is $300 an appt. Society doesn’t make getting help easy until a tragedy happens and it’s like “why didn’t they just reach out?”

Wired earphones actually making a comeback 🚨 After all that wireless hype, people are going back because : - Sound quality is different (real lossless, no bullshit compression) - No more charging anxiety or dead buds in the middle of nowhere - They just work, no random disconnects - Way cheaper than those fancy AirPods Plus the Y2K nostalgia feels real, everyone's tired of battery drama Even some celebs and Gen Z are rocking with wired earphones again
