I stopped by La Cueva to visit the football team, and here are some quick notes from watching just a bit of their workout:
-Starting QB Monty Melendez (@MontyMelen), who was listed at 5'8", last season, looks closer to 5'11" TBH, I don't know exact measurements but he definitely grew. Also, packed on some weight and was a ball of energy in the locker room.
-Last year's breakout RB J Dylan Hathaway looks like a UFC fighter, and is sprinting just months after a gruesome injury. Back to playing ball. Awesome to see.
-RB Vaughn Saunders (@VaughnSaunders7), who was listed as 6'2" 195 pounds, clocked in above 21 miles per hour. BTW, he looks ever bit of his listed height/weight. Heckuva of dynamic duo with him an Hathaway.
-ATH Cainen Montano (@CainenMontano2) is officially on BREAKOUT WATCH. The coaches rave about him, and I talked to him for a bit, the sophomore carries himself like a senior.
-OL Luke Ward was moving some weight. Another gym rat was "Santi" The guys told me he is new to the team, will get last name soon. Great mustache too.
-EDGE Dock Love (@dockmileslove1) looks a guy made to play in the trenches. I thought he was one of the best defensive players last season, curious to see the jump he takes this season.
-IDL Ifeoluwa Samuel Abiodun (@samuel51abiodun) has longer arms than I expected, and looks athletic as heck for his size. Guy can be a brute this season.
-I thought I saw Jake Hall but it was actually Palmer Eck (@Palmer_Eck) who moved some nice weight, and looks taller and more packed than the last time that I saw him.
- I also saw Albuquerque's snack prince, Kobe "The Snack Mamba" Valencia, but I was too afraid to talk to him.
