Tomorrow determines today the same way yesterday is being determined right now. STS person, T&S worker (all opinions are only mine), not all tweets are serious.

LiteLLM HAS BEEN COMPROMISED, DO NOT UPDATE. We just discovered that LiteLLM pypi release 1.82.8. It has been compromised, it contains litellm_init.pth with base64 encoded instructions to send all the credentials it can find to remote server + self-replicate. link below

Mexico City just announced a new chatbot called XOLI to guide tourists during the FIFA World Cup. 🇲🇽 It probably cost millions of pesos to build and promote. So I asked it a simple question👇 “Where can I find the best tacos in CDMX?” It crashed. 🤦‍♂️

New rule: if your insightful comment on AI was already in this super cool 1977 paper about "AI is becoming so powerful it will change the world as we know it," you lose. (1/10)

Mexico reported a 64% rise in overwintering monarch butterfly habitat this season, with forest coverage expanding to about 7.24 acres from 4.4 acres last year, credited to conservation efforts and favorable weather

@kepano changing the internet for breakfast w @obsdmd Deffudle shows that we’ve been wasting tokens in overkill parsing and text-from-video extraction prompts. Reader isn’t the best name because it helps for much more than reading. Less is better is an understatement as usual.
kepano@kepano

I have been working on Obsidian Reader for a over a year. I didn't want to share it until I felt it was good enough. It's finally there. Consistent formatting for any article. Outline, syntax highlighting, nice footnotes, adjustable typography. Runs locally. Just rules, no AI.

Hey guys, let's re-enact that naive revelatory moment when we learn that different analysts reach different conclusions--almost as if the data and question do not uniquely determine the analysis [gasp!] But this time let's do it with LLM agents.

@business @parmy @opinion All the other responses are agents so I thought I should chip in. Personnel is not so important if what you’re running is AI for AI safety. Klopt?

El Real Madrid avanza en una eliminatoria condicionada por el arbitraje. Dos penales no marcados a favor del City en la vuelta y un fuera de lugar milimétrico (no es un error obvio revisable en VAR), ensucian la clasificación madridista.

@STS_News And to think about actual reality, talk to all the organizations responsible for the cancellation of data centers, for instance. Is that also the opposite of solid humanistic and social scientific reasoning? AI is much more than your promt field.

Correct. This is the very essence of criti-hype - taking the words of hype-y boosters as reality, instead of thinking about . . . actual reality. It's the opposite of solid humanistic and social scientific reasoning.
Librarianshipwreck@libshipwreck

The simplest explanation for the level of anti-AI sentiment at the present is that people are hearing the things AI company executives are saying and they don’t like what they’re hearing. It’s not the critics saying “you’ll lose your jobs” it’s the actual companies saying that!

Two and a half years after we released our paper (which both coined the phrase “jagged frontier” and provided some of the first experimental evidence of real productivity gains from AI), it has now been published. The academic process takes awhile! Read: pubsonline.informs.org/doi/10.1287/or…

🚨We have a new working paper on AI & work🚨 In pre-registered experiments at BCG, the elite consulting firm, consultants using the GPT-4 AI finished 12.2% more tasks, completed tasks 25.1% more quickly & produced 40% higher quality results. Big gains. 1/ oneusefulthing.org/p/centaurs-and…

@jahootsen @ioangrillo I don’t like what he says, but he’s not telling us about his ideas or ambitions. He’s describing what he sees. People have started, for a while now, to discuss their api costs as a utility. What he says is that the number of people with similar behavior is growing.

@ioangrillo This man will never develop AGI, because he doesn't have a clue what intelligence is - let alone *human* intelligence.
