Libertad Austin, a community that will provide affordable housing in South Austin is under construction! It will deliver 198 affordable homes geared toward families w/ children. We can’t wait for residents to call Libertad home in early 2025!

VG recently launched a program called ACTION (Advancing Construction Trades In Our Neighborhoods), which provides entry level positions on VG Construction sites. Additionally, it offers access to a support system—transportation, meals, even housing—to help ensure their success!

Yesterday we celebrated the opening of Eileen’s Place! We had a great ribbon cutting and a wonderful celebration of residents, welcoming them to their permanent home! Thank you to all our partners who made Eileen’s Place a reality and continue to help it flourish.

Even with record hot temperatures, the Vecino offices far and wide were able to have some fun over the summer. Float trips, BBQs, ice cream socials, letterpress parties and greater goodie bag assembly happy hours were just some of the ways Vecino chose to unwind.

Over the weekend, we were able to welcome a young woman home at Intrada Saratoga Springs. She had been sleeping in a local park, but is now permanently housed!

Today we raise our hands, hearts and voices for Juneteenth! Juneteenth, of course, is the celebration commemorating June 19, 1865 — the day that slaves in Galveston, Texas, received word that they were free two years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation.

Last week, 250 volunteers from the Home Depot Foundation arrived at our Freedom Springs community to contribute to the greater good. They painted a mural; built a dog park, bus shelter, picnic tables, planters & bookshelves; and landscaped to make it feel a little more at home.

Yesterday we celebrated our first supportive community in Ithaca, NY. Ithaca Arthaus delivers 123 units of affordable housing to the creative community as well as provides supportive services to 40 transition age youth residents in the community. Big thank you to all involved.

On May 10th we officially celebrated Libertad in Glendale! Libertad Glendale brings 108 homes to families in Glendale via desert-inspired, modern homes from Vecino Design (which the residents LOVE, by the way) a clubhouse, playarea and—yes—a pool. Very proud of our team.

For nine stories in East Point, a bright new chapter has begun. Aya Tower construction is underway—we are excited to revitalize this existing high-rise with 88 affordable homes and capture the soulfulness that is East Point.
