If America Leaves NATO, the Bill Lands in Washington “NATO wasn’t there for us. We send billions of dollars to them every year to protect them. We would have always been there for them. But based on their actions, I guess we don’t have to be, do we? Why would we be there for them if they’re not there for us?” That argument sounds airtight. It also gets almost everything backwards. The Industrial Logic No One Wants to Say Out Loud. For decades, NATO membership has functioned as the world’s most effective arms sales platform. When a country joins the alliance, it buys American. F-35s, Patriot batteries, HIMARS, Javelins. It becomes structurally dependent on American spare parts, software updates, and maintenance contracts. It is the most sophisticated captive market in military history. Poland alone devotes 4.7 percent of its GDP to defense. These are not abstract trade figures. They are jobs in Fort Worth, Orlando, and East Hartford. They are the economic foundation of entire congressional districts. A US exit from NATO does not preserve this arrangement. It ends it. Canada and Portugal have already signaled reservations about F-35 commitments worth up to $19 billion, citing political unpredictability in Washington. When two countries walk away from an American platform, others begin running the same calculation. EU member states spent 343 billion euros on defense in 2024, a 19 percent rise from the year before. The political momentum behind “Buy European” is real and growing. The market will remain. NATO gives the United States something no defense budget line can purchase: forward positioning, intelligence integration, and political legitimacy across 30 countries. These are the operating system of American global influence.Without them, the United States becomes alone. The Indo-Pacific pivot is not wrong on its merits. But forward positioning in Europe is not a drain on Pacific readiness. It is the network that makes global power projection coherent. Cut one node and the whole system degrades. The Quiet Withdrawal Already Underway. A formal exit has not happened. But the functional retreat is well advanced. The Trump administration has told European allies the US will no longer serve as NATO’s primary conventional defense provider after 2027. Joint force commands are being transferred to European generals. Intelligence-sharing arrangements built over decades are being quietly renegotiated. Each move is individually defensible. Collectively, they produce the same outcome as a formal withdrawal, without the legal fight or the Senate vote. The irony is considerable. The administration that views NATO as a bad deal for America is dismantling the mechanism that made American arms exports dominant in global defense markets. The alliance was never just a security arrangement. It was the most durable commercial advantage in the history of the defense industry. So back to the question. Why would America be there for allies who aren’t there for America? Because “there for us” included $343 billion in European defense spending flowing toward American suppliers. It included 30 countries hosting American bases and intelligence networks. It included the political architecture that let Washington call itself the leader of the free world and have other governments agree. Not a subsidy to Europe. A return on investment that took 75 years to build. The bill for dismantling it will not arrive in Brussels. It will arrive in Fort Worth. Stay connected, Follow Gandalv @Microinteracti1

Zelensky isn’t angry. He is patient in a way that makes it worse. He is saying that Ukraine is now turning to the Middle East and the Gulf for what Europe has failed to deliver. Ballistic defense. Financing. The things Europe has had four years to coordinate and still cannot because Hungary sits in the room and nobody has figured out how to remove a hostile state from an alliance it is actively sabotaging. Four years. That is how long the EU has been pissed on by Orban and responded by scheduling another meeting. And now Zelensky is cutting deals with Gulf states based on shared drone warfare expertise. Ukraine teaches them how to survive modern aerial attack. They help fund Ukraine’s defense. A clean bilateral arrangement that bypasses the entire European bureaucratic apparatus completely. If that deal gets done, it is the single most embarrassing indictment of EU foreign policy in the institution’s history. Not because Ukraine found partners elsewhere. Because it had to. Europe built a system so paralyzed by its own consensus rules that a single pro-Kremlin government in Budapest can hold 400 million people hostage for four years while a democracy bleeds out on the continent’s eastern border. The question is whether Europe is even embarrassed enough to notice. Gandalv / @Microinteracti1
Volodymyr Zelenskyy / Володимир Зеленський@ZelenskyyUa

We are engaging with countries in the Middle East and the Gulf, which now show a strong interest in Ukraine’s experience in defending against drones. We already see that not only “shaheds” are being used in the region, but there is also growing evidence of the use of FPV drones. This is modern warfare, and everyone must be prepared for it. Ukraine has this expertise, and in exchange for our support we need help in areas where we face greater challenges. This includes protection against ballistic threats and financial resources for defense. Ukraine offers a mutually beneficial partnership: we can strengthen those who can strengthen us. The situation in the world now is such that only coordinated and joint actions can guarantee real results and genuine security. We are being blocked in Europe, and as long as this risk remains, we must seek out additional opportunities to strengthen ourselves. The Middle East and the Gulf are the right direction and serious opportunities to make Ukraine stronger.

🧵THREAD🧵1/22 ⬇️

Let me explain what just happened 👇 The Pentagon just handed its entire AI system to a single private company for $10 billion. Americans did not vote for this. The company is called Palantir. Most people have never heard of them. That’s not an accident. Palantir was funded by the CIA’s venture capital arm. From the beginning. Their first investor was In-Q-Tel.. the CIA’s private investment fund that most people don’t even know exists. They were built by the intelligence community. For the intelligence community. Now they run the AI inside the Pentagon. Their founder is Peter Thiel. Bilderberg member. Was on the board of Facebook from the very beginning. Connected to every intelligence circle that exists. This is the same man who publicly wrote “I no longer believe that freedom and democracy are compatible.” He now controls the AI powering the largest military on earth. Now think about what Palantir actually built its reputation on.. Not weapons. Not defense systems. Surveillance. Tracking. Predicting human behavior before it happens. That’s their product. That’s what $10 billion just bought. And they named the company after the palantir from Lord of the Rings.. the seeing stones that let you watch anyone anywhere at any time. They always tell you what it is. CIA funded. Intelligence connected. Surveillance built. Named after an all-seeing eye. Now running the AI inside the US military. With virtually zero oversight. Funded with your money. And nobody is asking a single question about it. Pay attention…

BREAKING: Middle East tensions are spiraling. Israel has struck Iran’s South Pars gas field, which is the world’s largest natural gas field. Oil just jumped to $108/barrel! Israel just warned that it will destroy all bridges on Lebanon’s Litani River. This is a major escalation. Meanwhile Iranian media says retaliation is coming after strikes on energy infrastructure. Now Iran is reportedly labeling Gulf energy sites as “legitimate targets” and issuing evacuation warnings across the region. This is exactly the kind of dangerous chain reaction critics warned about and it’s unfolding after Trump’s aggressive moves in the region. Expect oil prices to shoot up even more. The risk of a wider war just surged.

You see folks, as far as I can tell, from the outside, this is what it looks like: America has elected a man who talks and behaves like a megalomaniac, and the rest of the planet is supposed to just trust that he won’t completely lose his grip on reality and drag us all into catastrophe. You want to steal Greenland. You want Cuba to “make a deal before it’s too late”. You talk about bombing or invading Mexico. You kidnap a President and knock off the peoples oil in Venezuela. You joke about annexing Canada like it should be a shopping centre car park you can just claim because you feel like it. Do you have any idea how insane that sounds to the rest of us? This isn’t tough talk. This isn’t strategy. This is a deeply unstable old man threatening sovereign nations like he’s flipping over a Monopoly board because he’s losing. This is not normal behaviour. This is not leadership. This is not strength. This is a walking, talking international crisis. And Americans, this is where it comes back to you. Not just MAGA, not just the people who voted for him, all of you. Because when the President of the United States starts talking about kidnapping leaders, annexing countries, and issuing ultimatums like a mob boss, the rest of the world doesn’t get a vote. We just get the consequences. You don’t get to shrug and say, “Well I didn’t vote for him.” That might fly at a dinner party, but it doesn’t fly when nuclear powers are watching this circus and recalculating their own red lines. This is your system. Your presidency. Your responsibility. From the outside, it looks like America lit the fuse and then wandered off while everyone else stands around the bomb wondering who’s going to cut the wire. And let’s be brutally honest. This man is nearly 80. He’s frail. He’s clearly deteriorating. He is not some long term visionary playing chess. He’s at the end of his lifespan and acting like nothing matters after him. That is the most dangerous type of leader there is. A man with nothing to lose and an ego that demands constant feeding. Why should the rest of the world pay for that? Why should families in Europe, Asia, Australia, South America, anywhere, have to worry about war, trade collapse, energy shocks, or global instability because America couldn’t get its own house in order? This is not about left or right anymore. This is about basic sanity. This is about stopping a psychopath before he does something irreversible. Because once a war starts, once a country gets invaded, once alliances fracture beyond repair, you don’t get a reset button. So yes, this falls on Americans. You got the world into this mess, and you damn well better roll your sleeves up and get us out of it. Impeach him. Remove him. Contain him. Do whatever your system allows, but do it fast. Because the rest of us just want to live our lives, raise our families, pay our bills, and not wake up one morning to find out World War Three started because an unhinged old man wanted to feel powerful one last time. This isn’t funny anymore. It isn’t theatrical. It isn’t tolerable. Get this lunatic under wraps before he ruins it for everyone.

Oh, oh, there we go -- I’m starting to understand the rules of this game. So apparently Orban is totally allowed to: - undermine sanctions and European aid to Ukraine for years while it fights a gigantic war of national survival, - throw around threats and call Ukraine a “buffer zone,” - call for cutting off assistance to Ukraine and for its surrender to Russia, - plaster all of Hungary with insulting propaganda billboards about Ukraine and Zelensky, - finance Russia’s war against Ukraine by buying Russian oil while rejecting any alternatives for years, - swear that he will never allow Ukraine into the EU or NATO, - whip up anti-Ukrainian hysteria in Hungary amid elections and spam Twitter with anti-Ukraine propaganda slop 24/7, - openly and publicly call Ukraine “an enemy of Hungary," - undermine Ukraine’s territorial integrity in Transcarpathia and Crimea, - kidnap Ukrainian cash-in-transit guards and seize the property they were transporting for Ukrainian banks. But GOD FORBID that, after years of all this vile behavior, angry and fed-up Zelensky makes an awkward joke about Orban’s belly and says he’d like to give his phone number to Ukrainian soldiers so they can tell him what they think of him -- that’s a horrifying DEATH THREAT and completely UNACCEPTABLE!!!
