@Veidlinger It was printed in 1946 and later banned, you are right since it wasn't distributed at this time. Yad Vashem's edition reflects the censorship applied on the book and it didn't remove references to Yad Vashem. Ehrenburg's poem on the massacre was widely published by Novi Mir.

@Goque11 It was first published in 1980 by Yad Vashem in Israel by which time most of those in the JAFC that compiled it had been killed. If you think I am wrong, send me a link to the version you think was published before.

@Veidlinger It was repressed but after being published. Yad Vashem later run an edition highlighting the two rounds of censorship and still are references to Babi Year. The Storm contains direct references to the massacre. This book was awarded with the Prize Stalin and widely distributed.

@Goque11 The Black Book was repressed in the Soviet Union and not published in the region until 1991. The organization that put it together was disbanded and many of those affiliated with it were killed. The Yiddish edition was completely destroyed along with the original typefaces.

@Veidlinger That is not true. The Black Book, by Ehrenburg and Grossman, reports this massacre. Ehrenburg also dedicates a chapter in his novel The Storm, which was a best seller within the Soviet Union.

@jeff_kaye @jdforward I’d like to see a list now of all the monuments, memorials and cities named after slave owners in the United States. The US is not a slave state and Ukraine is not a Nazi state. But both continue to struggle with ways of memorializing racist and antisemitic figures in their past

Thanks to @G_Gutenberg for what I hear is an excellent translation into Spanish!
Galaxia Gutenberg@G_Gutenberg
