I want to be very clear here I don’t teach velocity gains over everything In the Veloclass - I teach guys how to move and maximize that In doing so - spin rates go up, consistency is main focus, velos climb I don’t tell guys sacrifice strikes for velo I would rather they throw 88 with 18” of run than a flat 90 that gets barreled So we get 90 with 18” of run and great things happen We also looked at offspeed and see what we can do there and with @TrackManBB we were able to help some guys develop a pitch that we can now map and locate, and still spin it at 3k for a strike Repeatability is the key - if it looks like you are having a stroke when you pitch you are probably doing it wrong - direction and repeating the same release is the key to throwing strikes (way more to throwing strikes with all the new data we can collect but this still applies) You have to find the mindset that you are going to fight like a madman (without redlining too hard and getting an adrenaline dump) You can’t doubt yourself if you prepared -if you didn’t prepare it is now your fault you lost 100% - if you did prepare then you compete to the max and let the cards fall where they may This is just a little bit of it

@Velo_doc A certain investigation was just concluded and from what I’m finding out a parent (s) contacted many current and past players parents who didn’t have a good experience and passed the information along. Guess what the common theme with all boys were? They didn’t play. Shocker.

If you are a parent trying to run a HS coach off for your kid not playing I got news for ya You are doing your kid a disservice, you are probably a bad person, and in the long run you’ll definitely find that out The stories I’m hearing from multiple HCs across DFW are baffling and some of yall need a reality check for dang sure Raising spoiled brats ain’t it yall

@Velo_doc I’ve seen both ends of this situation, parents who completely overestimate their kids talent and effort. But, on the other end, I’ve seen some shitty coaches who are just there to collect a stipend and leave talent on the bench to appease friends and family.

I was also one of the sideline docs for Allen HS and a few others Allen is the largest in America - football team has had 30-40 nfl players in the last decade including Kyler Murray Saw and learned alot Turf will keep the force in the leg and explode a knee Grass can give and reduce those forces Not gonna go into all the detail but that’s the surface level of it

Need some input from other coaches out there. I honestly don’t recall anyone ever tearing an ACL when I was in HS (mid-2000s). Why are they so prevalent now? My two theories: No one rides bikes No one jumps on trampolines. Or could it be the playing surfaces?

In our school district - a parent or kids complains or accuses a teacher or coach of wrongdoing / the district assumes the teacher/coach is guilty. They fired the last two baseball staffs in the last two years. Who the hell wants to coach there anymore

@Velo_doc Recently retired HS lacrosse coach. Our coaching staff would not: -have a convo w any parent on a game day -ever have ANY convo w a parent about playing time. PERIOD -have a convo w a parent about any “problem” if the player hadn’t spoken with us first.

@Velo_doc I can only speak to the coaches in DISD i have seen coach. Despite significant discrepancy in funding, equipment, facililties - with the help of parents and often people that love baseball, they train up good kids and run quality programs. It’s dedication to the game & kids.

Nailed it. No coach is immune to this. Karen beware, I won’t hold back and play nice. Maybe you should have applied for the job when I did. I’m done listening and tolerating this nonsense from people that never played the game or was nothing but a “JV Johnny.” I said what I said.
