A beautiful gesture from Jonas 🩷 Davide Piganzoli revealed after the stage that his teammate and race leader Jonas Vingegaard gave him the freedom to attack and pursue his own ambitions. Piganzoli ultimately helped Vingegaard secure his fourth stage win.

A masterclass in the maglia rosa 🩷 Jonas Vingegaard wins Stage 16 of the Giro d’Italia after a 6.6km attack that no one could follow, sealing his fourth win of the race.

In the first 50km, Narváez spent 18’21” in the Red Zone, which is when a rider is riding above their sustainable threshold power. In comparison, Vingegaard spent 5’26” in the Red Zone.

A high score means the rider has not just ridden hard, but has repeatedly surged, attacked, or responded to attacks in a way that compounds the physical toll. 51-70 is high, 71-90 is very high, 90+ is extreme. In comparison, Vingegaard had an Attack Index of 15/100 (first 50km).
