@BlvckLotusx I didn’t say that either I know we’re talking about culture it’s literally in the fucking second sentence
English

@Ven1910976 Sigh*** no one is saying Harlem, the geographical location wouldn't exist. We are referencing the culture in Harlem that made it what it is today...
English

Yeah and they were a minorty in between 1910-20 its estimated 1-2 million African Americans were involved during that first period.

Just admit it.. YALL DONT READ! "The era of the Great Migration out of the South was also the era of black immigration to the United States from other countries." Mentally colonized and fighting for your oppressor.
English

@BlvckLotusx Saying harlem wouldn’t exist is more egregious than saying it would exist but it would be culturally different. 😭😭
English

@Ven1910976 You're hallucinating, and trying to make a fantasy to where immigrants who contributed to the Harlem Renaissance aren't as important is the egregious claim. Fact: immagrants were apart of the new ideology of the New Negro. They were APART of the Great Migration. Deal with it
English

@BlvckLotusx Saying it wouldn’t existed/happen is just an egregious claim 😭😭
English

@BlvckLotusx it’s an exaggerated claim that implies Harlem’s identity was depended primarily on immigration, which simply doesn’t match the demographic reality of the time.
English

@BlvckLotusx I nevered denied I said they were a minorty. I never argued that caribbeans weren't here. Your own source list about almost 100k between 1910-20s. 1910-20s is almost 2 million ppl African Americans migrated during that period

English

@Ven1910976 The Harlem Renaissance happened because of the Great Migration. The Great Migration included Black people from the Caribbean and Americas. Its all one.. Why are you trying to argue against facts with hypotheticals?....
English

@BlvckLotusx Even google ai (which person used in orginal tweet to try back up their claim) wouldn't agree that it wouldn't of happened.
English

@BlvckLotusx Like it would still happened but obviously things would be different. Like if the quarter of careabian immigrants that made up harlem just disappeared

Black Americans have loved our blackness for nearly a century. You're late to the party but shouting like you're the host.

So many BA's are on twitter pretending to be champions of Ebonics, like we don't how Ebonics was spoken about before 2014. Some of u just started loving your Blackness & now you're blaming Black immigrants for how Ebonics was viewed.

And it's why you can't say immigrants help shape it when there are AA alive right now who have been speaking it longer than immigrants have been in the US.

this is the issue with people confusing aave for sayings on tiktok that happen to be popularized by black people. aave is literally grammatical. it is its own dialect of english with structural RULES spoken by MULTIPLE GENERATIONS of AA's. it is not just cute sayings and slangs.
