@VenNotBen I feel that this whole argument is what most fans don't understand. I feel bad for the athletes who chose to represent the flag despite the potential backlash that they don't deserve.

For a lot of athletes, not speaking up comes from a very real fear of consequences, esp when roster spots and future opportunities are on the line. It’s easy to say athletes should be vocal, but the reality is the system they operate in can make it feel risky. Silence isn’t always agreement, and speaking up isn’t always fearlessness. Sometimes, it’s just survival in a system where one honest voice can cost someone their place. And that’s the uncomfortable truth: you can’t build a truly strong national program if athletes are forced to choose between their career and their conscience.

Those who are given the chance to represent shouldn’t be diminished for stepping in, just as those who choose to speak out shouldn’t be dismissed for doing so.

Paying taxes should feel like contributing to a beautiful, shared community garden. Not like funding a global demonic cult.
