@Jxrvxs No, it's just another geographical indication. But in the next version we'll make it a little less prominent (but only slightly).

Exceptionally hot weather is peaking across the USA. Tropical air with temperatures of up to 35 °C / 95 °F is reaching record-high latitudes. 🥵🧐 Summer-like temperatures will be measured almost up to the Canadian border. In some areas, temperatures are running as much as +20 °C / +40 °F above normal for this time of year: #p=38.8;-91.4;4&t=20260321/2100" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">ventusky.com/temperature-ma…

A very intense tropical cyclone #Narelle (Category 4) is moving toward northern Australia (see its projected development over the next three days). 🧐🌧️ Flooding is expected in the affected region (the ground is already saturated from previous rainfall), along with, of course, strong winds. It will weaken over land but is then expected to return over the ocean, where it will intensify again. See wind map live: #p=-14.52;144.62;6&w=soft" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">ventusky.com/wind-gusts-map…

A textbook cold front with thunderstorms and a sharp temperature drop is currently moving across the USA. ⛈️🌬️ In the coming days, it will continue farther south, but fronts obviously do not advance into equatorial regions. Over the Caribbean, it will therefore stall and become a stationary front, bringing persistent rain to the region for several days. Once again, this is a textbook development. 🤗

The western half of the United States will experience a record-breaking heatwave in the coming days. 🥵☀️ Already in March, temperatures in the Southwest are expected to exceed 40 °C / 104 °F, while much of the region will see tropical temperatures above 30 °C / 86 °F. Temperatures are likely to break monthly records in many locations. See the temperature map for March 21: #p=38.2;-100.4;4&t=20260321/2100" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">ventusky.com/#p=38.2;-100.4…

⚠ An enhanced risk of severe thunderstorms is forecast today from the Mid-South into the lower Ohio Valley. A developing squall line late this afternoon and evening may produce widespread wind gusts of 25–30 m/s (50–60 kt). Locally stronger gusts may exceed 33 m/s (65 kt) within the most intense line segments. A few tornadoes are possible, particularly within mesovortices along the line or from any isolated supercells ahead of it. Later tonight, supercells capable of producing tornadoes may also develop across the Florida Panhandle, southeastern Alabama, and Georgia. A significant temperature change is expected in the eastern United States during Sunday and Monday. 🥵🥶 Within just a few hours, an air mass with a temperature of 20 °C (68 °F) will be replaced by an air mass with a temperature of −15 °C (5 °F) at the 850 hPa level (about 1,500 m above the ground), which clearly illustrates the evolution of the air masses (see video): #p=37.6;-85.9;4&t=20260316/1300" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">ventusky.com/temperature-ma… 🧐

🌧️ Hawaii is currently being affected by a Kona Low, which could bring over 250 mm of rainfall in some areas by the end of the week: #p=24.9;-147.8;4&t=20260315/18&src=link" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">ventusky.com/precipitation-… ℹ A Kona Low is a type of low-pressure system that develops near the Hawaiian Islands mainly during the winter season. It forms when atmospheric circulation shifts and winds approach the islands from the west or southwest, known locally as the “kona” direction. These systems usually have a cold core and are classified as extratropical cyclones. They can persist for several days and often bring heavy rain, thunderstorms, strong winds and rough seas.

In March, as the snow gradually recedes, nature slowly begins to awaken. 😍☘️🌿 However, this year’s first spring month is not particularly favorable for nature in Europe in terms of meteorological conditions. It is expected to be warmer than average but especially drier than usual – see the map of expected precipitation anomalies for March. Areas marked in red/orange are expected to receive less precipitation than normal. In addition, snow amounts in the mountains of Central Europe are significantly below average. All of this may lead to a dry spring. 🧐 Precipitation anomalies can be tracked on Ventusky: #p=49.6;18.9;4" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">ventusky.com/precipitation-…

ℹ During the second half of the week, a noticeable shift in the weather pattern is expected across much of Europe. The above-average temperatures that have prevailed in many regions over the past few weeks will gradually come to an end. A low-pressure system over north-western Europe will allow cooler air to advect from the northwest, leading to a drop in temperatures in many areas. According to current forecasts, however, this cooling is likely to be only temporary, with temperatures expected to rebound again afterward. ℹ In recent days, a cut-off low has formed over the Baja California region. A cut-off low typically develops when a deep upper-level trough amplifies within the mid-latitude westerlies due to Rossby wave growth. As the trough deepens further, the circulation can pinch off from the main westerly flow and become largely isolated from the jet stream. ℹ This process produces an isolated cold-core cyclonic vortex in the middle and upper troposphere, usually identified by closed geopotential height contours and cyclonic circulation at the 500 hPa level. Because the system is detached from the primary steering flow, its motion is typically slow and may even occur against the prevailing large-scale flow. During its mature phase, a cut-off low is often associated with enhanced instability and persistent precipitation before gradually weakening or being reabsorbed into the westerly circulation. ➡ Follow the developments on Ventusky: #p=31.0;-110.0;4&t=20260310/00&src=link" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">ventusky.com/wind-speed-map…

A cloud of Saharan dust has covered parts of Europe. 🏜️ It is mostly staying at higher altitudes, so its effects are most noticeable in the Alps, where it has hazed the views and long-distance visibility from the ski slopes is now quite limited. See webcams: ventusky.com/webcam-4820262… 🫣 It is partially worsening air quality. It may also bring colorful sunrises and sunsets. 🌅

The western United States is experiencing an exceptionally snow-poor winter. 🧐 Currently, snow is present only in the highest mountain elevations. For comparison, in 2023 at the same time there was many times more snow (see the archived image): #p=42.3;-109.6;5&t=20230306/15&src=link" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">ventusky.com/snow-cover-map… ⛷️❄️In many places across the western U.S., this winter has been the warmest on record.

ℹ The figure shows current temperatures in the stratosphere at the 10 hPa level (~30 km), where significantly higher values than usual are observed over the Arctic. These anomalies are associated with the onset of a major sudden stratospheric warming (SSW), during which temperatures in the stratosphere can increase by up to 50 °C within a few days. This process leads to a disruption and often a split of the polar vortex, which can subsequently influence weather patterns in the mid-latitudes. More information can be found in the article: my.ventusky.com/guide/weather/… ➡ Track polar stratospheric temperatures on Ventusky: #p=33;-50;1&t=20260302/00&src=link" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">ventusky.com/temperature-ma…
