Health Update: 2025 was unpleasant; most of it bed-bound.
Numerous months of impaired memory recall, motor functioning, and electric shocks up my spine & head (some 50 times a day at its peak) did not help.
Neither did the number of severe infections & allergic reaction to medication - resulting in a dozen or so admissions to Emergency care.
Cognitively, memory recall was one part of the equation. My 'executive functioning' last year is perhaps best described in metaphorical terms: an object that not only fell out of a window, but was subsequently ran over by a moving bus.
Hence, the drop in content, delays with my startup, my articles for various publications, my book contracts & having to take time out of university.
I know the vast majority of you follow me purely for my content & research on Winston Churchill, so I'll draw from Churchillian phraseology. Had you asked me how I felt last November, I'd refer you to what Churchill said in 1954,
"I feel like an aeroplane at the end of its flight, in the dusk, with the petrol running out, in search of a safe landing."
Today, I'd answer differently. Whilst there is no doubt that I still have a long way to go in terms of my health, in the words of Churchill,
"This is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning."
I say all this not because I'm someone fishing for sympathy - in fact, as a private person, none of this is easy to write about publicly. That said, I'm aware of the great backlog of messages, emails & other correspondences that's accumulated in my absence, and I'm to slowly make my way through them.
(Regarding my startup, the website is temporarily down for maintenance, & customers will be sent updates over the coming week, regarding an updated timeline & a thank-you gift for their patience.
The goal for my luxury publishing firm was to be on our third book by now; however, given the shambolic state of my health in 2025, progress was essentially halted for over half a year, which is why we're still on our first title.
This was most annoying, but c’est la vie.)
Here's to a better 2026, for everyone. 🥂
