For Israelis, the war is a matter of life and death. For most people who argur with them online, it's an inconsequential hobby. Such arguments are always extremely unequal. People's inability to see this is a source of endless frustration.

Whoever gives the correct answer won't be accept to an ivy league university.

@VerminusM We had all ethnicities and religions in the Yugoslav army before the breakup civil war. It just made it easier for the separatists to dismantle the army from the inside

Few people know it, but in 1954, the Israeli government decided to enlist Arabs in the IDF. Around 4,000 of 4,520 eligible Arab youths registered for the draft. However, the government got cold feet in the last moment and cancelled the program. Ever since, this status quo has been maintained. I often wonder, what would have happened if Israel proceeded with this plan? If there can be Arab truck drivers, doctors, pilots, judges, police generals, cabinet ministers, and supreme court justices, why not soldiers?

@Frederi81545084 A negligible amount. The draft would have included tens of thousands of people each year.

@VerminusM This post is misleading. Israeli Arabs are exempt from the draft, but can (and do) serve if they want to.

@VGersht Israeli Druze fight Lebanese Druze. Russian Christians fight Ukrainian Christians. German Jews fought French Jews.

@VerminusM They don't trust the US to back them up. Witnessing how the hillbilly VP slanders his country's strongest ally, that led the fight making Iranian sky safe for US planes, is portrayed as the proverbial "Jews' money subverts US interests".

@dlieberm There is no such thing as "Nazi behavior." It's a meaningless term that people apply in bad faith for emotional effect.

@VerminusM Let's call out Nazi behavior EVERYWHERE it exists... In the cities of Gaza, Lebanon and Iran but also in the West Bank towns that are under siege by settlers while the Israeli government turns its head.

The only reason they're calling Jews "Nazis" is to shame Jews into not defending themselves from actual Nazis.

@BCERLegacy True, but these parties are still Israeli, not Palestinian. Israeli Arabs and Palestinians Arabs are not the same just like Palestinian Arabs and Jordanian Arabs are not the same at this point. Treating all as one group would be a mistake.

In honor of the incoming elections, these are the biggest issues facing Israel right now: The Haredi Welfare State The Haredi education system is designed to produce welfare cases who hate the country. It's by far the 9-fastest growing and best-funded system in Israel. Haredim take away the most from the state and give the least. They are also becoming increasingly more violent and disruptive towards other groups. They are currently the biggest threat to Israel's long-term survival. This isn't a matter of ideology, it's simple math. For Israel to survive, this system must be defunded and the Haredim must be made to contribute at least enough to carry their own weight. Arab Lawlessness There are areas in the Negev and North which are effectively ruled by Arab gangs. These groups are armed to the teeth and there is nothing that stands between them and Jewish towns. If tomorrow they decided to switch from crime to terrorism, they could carry out an October 7 style attack with ease. Iran would be thrilled to help them. To restore security and prevent the next massacre of Jews, the rule of law must be restored to these areas by any means necessary. Socialist Bureaucracy Israel is choked by endless regulations meant to stifle competition and protect narrow interest groups. This results in huge difficulties in opening businesses, importing goods, and even making Aliyah. Why would a Jew from a Western state move to a country where everything is expensive and difficult? To attract high-quality people from successful countries, this archaic bureaucracy must be dismantled and replaced with a true free market. The War While there have been achievements in the many fronts in which Israel is engaged right now, not a single one of them has anything people would call a concrete victory. The enemy is diminished but not defeated anywhere. This is like putting out 99% of the fire and waiting for the flames to rise again. To win lasting peace, Israel must truly crush the enemy, not just degrade his armed factions. Otherwise, all tactical achievements will be eroded in a matter of years and this madness will start again.

@zeliacaduncan How many non-Muslim traitors and madmen were there in US history? Using one man as an example is hardly an argument.

@VerminusM we should ask Nidal Malik Hasan if it's a good idea. or the high ranking members of the muslim brotherhood inside the intelligence community and military both in europe and the US

@zeliacaduncan They're not traitors, they are enemies. They never claimed to love this country or be loyal to it. If Jews trust them and get burned, that's entirely the Jews' fault.

@VerminusM false and disappointing. why are you pretending that the problem is arab "lawlessness" and not the fact that they are a traitorous 5th column that mostly produces violence, dysfunction and economic crimes, and whose goal is not only the destruction of the state but also genocide?

I just watched The Odyssey. It is masterpiece. Exceptional. Extraordinary. Unrelenting. I am in awe. One of the best movies ever made.

@mskochin Nah, I want to force them to work. Their military service is less critical than defunding their welfare empire.
