The key sentence here, and it is an extremely sobering one, is: “My 5.5-year battle has been a lonely one in many ways until yesterday.” That is the problem in a nutshell. Conservatives are under constant lawfare attack, and almost every target ends up fighting alone, draining personal resources while reinventing the wheel each time.
Meanwhile, there is almost no institutional or scholarly infrastructure providing intellectual air cover or coordinated counterpressure. So even when individual cases are won, the broader movement still suffers death by a thousand cuts.
It is nice that DOJ has finally entered the battle, but there also needs to be a long-term building of an intellectual home for counterlawfare.
Lawfare strategies are not treated as aberrational but instead as the default operating framework of respectable institutional politics. There is no serious intellectual or cultural apparatus engaging with them in a coordinated or sustained way. Normally, universities would fill that role, but they instead function as cheerleaders for the lawfare itself.
That has created a real vacuum that needs to be filled.

This is excellent work, @tzsmith. It shows that I never had unbiased DC Bar prosecutors. Never. Just actors who were political hatchet men for the Left. The D.C. Court of Appeals has a serious problem on its hands in Jack Metzler. Just on the basis of what you uncovered about Metzler, Zach, the case against me should be immediately dismissed. And, in reality, what you summarize just scratches the surface of all of the legal defects the case has, as DOJ’s new case will now show to a wider audience. My 5.5-year battle has been a lonely one in many ways until yesterday. Metzler has been in charge of all appellate-related matters against me and no doubt many trial-level legal briefs as well. And his involvement has irrevocably tainted the case against me. My jaw dropped when I read Metzler mocking The Book of Revelation. He denigrated and insulted Christians everywhere. Congress has plenary power over DC. It should remove Metzler and his boss Hamilton Fox — instanter. Up to this point, Metzler gotten away with his nonsense only because DC is an enclave of radical left fervor. He tweeted this mocking of Christians screenshotted below just 27 days ago on my birthday. The shoe should definitely be on the other foot: the D.C. Court of Appeals should immediately appoint new lawyers to run the Office of Disciplinary Counsel and those lawyers should be specifically tasked with investigating ethical violations by their predecessors. And that process should make Metzler Investigative Target Number One.

Jihadists are slaughtering Christians in Nigeria — and the world stays silent.
In just 24 hours in Plateau State, at least 19 Christians were murdered in separate attacks.
In one village alone (Ngbra-Zongo), 11 people were killed — including two pregnant women, children, and elderly residents. The attackers used guns and machetes, breaking into homes while families slept.
Among the victims: a 60-year-old community leader, a 3-year-old child, and two pregnant women.
This is not random violence.
This is systematic targeting of Christians by Fulani jihadist militias.
Yet the mainstream media, the United Nations, and so-called human rights organizations remain almost completely silent.
How many more Christians have to be murdered before the world finally cares?
