Varghese Summersett 5 Star Review: "From my very first meeting with McKenzie at Varghese Summersett, I knew I was finally in the right place. Their team was honest, strategic, and direct about the complexities of my child custody case. They set clear expectations, never minimized the challenges, and approached every aspect of the case with professionalism and purpose. This was not a simple case. It involved multiple CPS investigations, ongoing therapy for my children, and uncovering deeply concerning truths about what they had been experiencing. Despite being told by other attorneys that achieving custody as a father in Texas would be extremely difficult, McKenzie refused to accept limitations or stereotypes. Her approach to custody litigation was thorough, intentional, and relentless. She demonstrated a level of preparation, legal knowledge, and courtroom strength that set her apart. Every step of the way, she advocated not just for me—but for the best interests and safety of my children. The outcome speaks for itself. I was awarded sole physical and legal custody of my children. The Attorney General’s office dropped the case against me and waived approximately $45,000 in alleged back child support that was being pursued during the time my son was already in my care. Most importantly, my son is still here today—and I do not take that for granted. I firmly believe that outcome would not have been possible without McKenzie and her team’s dedication, expertise, and genuine investment in my family’s future. They did not treat my case as just another file—they treated it with the urgency and care it deserved. If you are facing a difficult child custody battle, dealing with parental alienation, or searching for a Texas family law attorney who will advocate fiercely for you and your children, I cannot recommend Varghese Summersett enough. Choosing the right attorney can change everything. For my family—it literally saved lives!"

Our Personal Injury Team has helped hundreds of Texans after weather-related crashes, but our goal is to help you avoid one in the first place. Stay ahead of the storm. How is child support calculated in Texas? It’s based on a percentage of the paying parent’s net resources—starting at 20% for one child and increasing with each additional child. But that’s just the starting point. Courts can adjust based on your family’s unique situation. If you’re going through a divorce or establishing paternity, understanding these guidelines is critical. Our article breaks down the formula, updates, and when support may vary from standard calculations. Read now: bit.ly/4t0m1z9

Does your zip code determine your bail? Our analysis of 238,000+ bail bonds across 5 major Texas counties reveals a striking reality: for the same offense, bond amounts can vary dramatically depending on where you're arrested. In fact, Dallas County stood out—with averages nearly 5x higher than some neighboring counties. This isn’t just variation, it’s a fragmented system. Read the full breakdown to understand what this could mean for you or your loved ones: bit.ly/4u8LXJU

We've built a meritocracy at Varghese Summersett, where advancement is tied to the work you do, not the politics of the moment. Where you can try cases, build a book, and set your trajectory without wondering if a new administration is going to reshuffle the deck. Replace uncertainty with support.

Hearing from four Fort Worth mayors, past and present, was nothing short of incredible. At #LeadershipOUTLOOK2026, Mattie Parker, Betsy Price, Mike Moncrief, and Kenneth Barr shared firsthand insights on leadership and the responsibility of serving a growing city. The perspective, experience, and honesty each brought to the conversation made this a truly memorable morning at Dickies Arena. Moments like this remind us how impactful strong leadership is.

Varghese Summersett 5 Star Review: "I was referred to Varghese Summersett, by a friend who was familiar with the firm, to resolve a custody issue with my daughter. I was attempting to limit the visitation that her biological mother had due to abuse that had taken place at her residence. I was immediately contacted by Michael Livens and Jeromy Kitchen who have been absolutely top notch from the very beginning. I was able to easily describe my situation and get clear and concise advice and opinions on what route would be best to take in my situation. Throughout the entire process they were both able to explain the situations and paperwork to me in plain English, allowing me to make informed and educated decisions. Even when I was worked up and emotional, Michael was able to guide me towards decisions that would benefit me in the long run. I don't think I would have gotten the outcome that I got without their guidance. Michael was able to, not only get the child support that I had been paying for 15 years dropped but also get me awarded child support through the end of our custody agreement. During the last 15 months I never once felt out of the loop, never felt that I was being misled or uninformed. I highly recommend this firm, everyone I have dealt with has been extremely helpful and caring towards my situation. I've dealt with other firms in the past who treated me like a client who paid their bills, this firm treated me like family. They took the time to listen, understand, evaluate, and make a plan that suited me perfectly."

On this episode of Take This Down, Ty Stimpson sits down with world-renowned speaker and entrepreneur Johnny Wimbrey (@wimbrey) for one of the most powerful conversations yet. Johnny opens up about growing up in Fort Worth, living in a battered women’s shelter, being surrounded by gangs and violence, and the moment that changed everything — standing in a church with a gun, ready to retaliate for a friend’s murder, when a grieving mother publicly forgave her son’s killer. That moment forced Johnny to confront himself and walk away from a life that was headed toward destruction. From selling drugs in high school to receiving the key to the city from the mayor, Johnny shares how he turned his “street hustle” into a million-dollar business mindset — and why he now plays to win with no victims. Suing Uber or Lyft for sexual assault in Texas isn’t as straightforward as you might think. State laws create extra hurdles, meaning survivors must prove gross negligence, not just wrongdoing. But justice is still possible with the right legal strategy. At Varghese Summersett, we focus on holding companies accountable for their own failures, not just their drivers’. Marijuana possession in Texas isn’t as simple as you might think. Even small amounts can lead to criminal charges, and the penalties escalate quickly based on weight. Prosecutors must also prove THC concentration exceeds 0.3% to secure a conviction. Know the law. Protect your future. Work hard. Celebrate harder. Our team took a well-earned break with a firm field trip to Mi Cocina and Fort Worth Axe Factory to celebrate a strong first quarter—and the people who made it happen. At Varghese Summersett, success isn’t just measured in results (though we’re proud of those too). It’s about building a team that shows up for each other, for our clients, and for every challenge that comes our way.

If police searched your car, home, or even your person without permission, you may be wondering: was it legal? Under the Fourth Amendment and Texas law, illegally obtained evidence can be thrown out—potentially turning a conviction into a dismissal. We’ve seen law enforcement cut corners, ignore constitutional rights, or pressure people into searches they could have refused. If you think your rights were violated, don’t wait.
