Fact: Queen Elizabeth II served more time in the military than four generations of the Trump family combined.

@mikoh123 You really do have to give it to Reform. Their ability to recruit the most nauseating slimeball cnts in British politics is unprecedented.

Reform’s Robert Jenrick has an absolute meltdown on Sky news when challenged with a statement that Sky hadn’t even spoken to Nigel Farage’s daughter. #clacton

There is a difference between scrutiny and harassment. UK media are now harassing Nigel Farage, his family, & anybody connected to Reform. Why? Because they know he’s the only man capable of overturning the establishment. Same playbook as France, Romania, & America.

Credit to Trump: He challenged Europe to contribute its fair share, and Belgium has stepped up by supplying 80% of the goals

He still doesn't get that it wasn't about Balogun. Nobody cares about Balogun. He's bang average. It was about the sport. A sport that this world cup has already tarnished with "Powerade hydration breaks" and will continue to tarnish with a pedophile presenting the trophy. It was about the rules of the game. Things crafted over decades. Being thrown away because the aforementioned pedophile threatened the President of FIFA and forced them to A) Make a completely unprecedented decision. B) Lie to cover it up. C) Force the rest of the world to listen to and read the dumbest takes imaginable. As well as laughable bullshit about section 27, VAR not being applied properly, "bang bang plays" and all manner of stupidity from a bunch of people who won't watch another game until 2030, or in some cases until we are all unfortunate enough to have to suffer through another World Cup held in America.
Dave Portnoy@stoolpresidente

As a proud American let me be the first to congratulate Belgium. You guys were the far superior team. Granted I can’t tell if you guys are any good cause we are so pathetic but you beat us fair and square. Now in hindsight doesn’t all the bellyaching about Balogun playing seem silly?

You are AN ELECTED MP, you doughnut. That makes your earnings OUR BUSINESS. People are saying they’ve not seen him this angry before, yeah, because he’s not faced accountability before. He’s completely buckled under a fraction of the scrutiny that other MPs have endured.

If you are hounding Nigel Farage’s children and family, shame on you! Why do you people have such double standards? People’s kids are a hard NO. Leave them alone. Go and be outraged at real news such as; murders, rapes, illegal immigration, energy prices, net stupid zero. Veterans living on the streets! The list is endless. Someone can gift Nigel 500 million for all I care, if he makes a start on fixing all that lot.

I have a theory: American sports culture tends to be more earnest, motivational, and family-friendly. Chants lean positive or generic. “Let’s go [team]!”, “Defense!”, “I believe that we will win!” Honestly it's kind of cringe and lame, especially when you compare to the English football chants, which are the absolute pinnacle of excellence in the field. The Brits don't have this positivity culture. Theirs is infused with banter. In the USA, there's less cultural permission for sustained irony or savagery in mixed public crowds. Football in the UK was (and remains) a working-class / tribal passion for many clubs. These clubs have deep roots, representing regions that have gone to wars. Manchester United vs. Leeds always invokes the "Wars of the Roses," a 15th-century civil war between the House of Lancaster and the House of York. US soccer has long had more of a suburban, middle-class + family vibe in many places. And instead of standing terraces, American stadiums are mostly all-seated, highly commercial stadiums with constant PA interruptions, ads, timeouts, and have more of an “entertainment product” feel. Cheerleaders or marching bands and announcers often lead rather than the crowd inventing spontaneously. Just to show you how cheeky some of the banter is in English football (which wouldn't be tolerated in the US), there was a South Korean player who played for my team Manchester United. The chant for him goes: Park, Park, wherever you may be, You eat dogs in your own country. It could be worse, You could be a Scouse, Eating rats in your council house! (To the tune of a variant of "Lord of the Dance") And this is us the United fans showing love for Park because we bothered to craft a chant for him! This would simply never fly in the US
Mike Bird@Birdyword

Does anyone have a good or outlandish theory as to why the US fans haven't developed good chants? Are US sporting chants poor in general? Is it something else?
