I'd grown up not having enough.
When I started earning my own money, I stuffed part of each payout in my wall.
Each night I slept with my hand against the wall, reminding myself I had enough - but I didn't feel that way - not fully understanding cash doesn't equal love.

Ella opened the lid to her lunchbox and looked inside.
Same as yesterday. She moaned and snapped the lid shut. “Why does she make so much thanksgiving?”
Beni said “I’ll trade you” holding out a candy bar and bag of chips.
Ella took the trade knowing his mother couldn’t cook.

Tom and Sally handed the twins to her parents and left for a weekend together. It was awkward at first as they got reacquainted. But once their connection returned, they made love.
Afterwards neither said the words but each thought "we could let the grandparents raise the kids".
