USS Kentucky: Ohio-Class Ballistic Missile Submarine The USS Kentucky (SSBN-737) is an Ohio-class ballistic missile submarine armed with up to 20 Trident II D5 missiles.  It provides the most survivable leg of America’s nuclear triad through long-endurance, stealthy deterrent patrols from Naval Base Bangor, Washington.  The submarine can remain submerged for months and deliver precision nuclear strikes if needed, ensuring strategic stability.

Army Reanimated Tissue Training Soldiers from the 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division conducted reanimated tissue training at Fort Hood, Texas on April 22, 2026. Galveston District Advances Houston Ship Channel Expansion The Galveston District is progressing on Houston Ship Channel Project 11 Segment 3, widening the channel to 700 feet and deepening sections to 46.5 feet.  Work includes dredging, bend easings, bird islands, marshes, and oyster reef mitigation.  This expansion will allow larger ships, reduce congestion, and support economic growth while protecting the environment in America’s busiest port by tonnage. #Houston #Army #Engineer

Joint Base Andrews Responds to Fuel Spill On April 15, 2026, a fuel spill near Joint Base Andrews prompted an immediate environmental response.  Members of the 316th Civil Engineer Squadron, including Maj. Christopher Schmidt and Joshua Miller, collected water samples from Piscataway Creek to evaluate impacts.  This swift action highlights the base’s commitment to environmental protection and regulatory compliance.

Coast Guard, Juneau PD SWAT, and TSA Conduct Maritime Active Shooter Training On April 8, 2026, U.S. Coast Guard personnel from Station Juneau, the Juneau Police Department SWAT team, and the Transportation Security Administration conducted joint maritime active shooter response training near Juneau, Alaska. The exercise simulated an active shooter incident aboard a passenger vessel and focused on improving coordination, boarding tactics, and threat neutralization in a maritime environment. This multi-agency training strengthens the ability of federal and local partners to respond to real-world security threats at sea.

Hungarian Lynx: Next-Generation Infantry Fighting Vehicle The Hungarian Lynx is a modern tracked infantry fighting vehicle with a 30mm cannon, Spike anti-tank missiles, and advanced armor protection.  It carries three crew plus eight infantry soldiers and offers high mobility with excellent mine and ballistic protection.  Hungary has ordered 218 Lynx vehicles to strengthen its NATO role on the eastern flank.

Defenture: Building the GRF for NATO Allies Defenture in Tiel, Netherlands, builds the advanced GRF (Ground Reconnaissance Vehicle) for the Royal Netherlands Army and NATO allies including Germany and Lithuania.  The GRF is a highly mobile, protected 4x4 platform designed for reconnaissance, troop transport, and command roles with excellent ballistic and mine protection.  This modern production showcases Europe’s growing defense industrial base supporting NATO’s future mobility needs.

Coast Guard Offloads 3,825 Pounds of C*caine in Miami On April 16, 2026, the crew of Coast Guard Cutter Tampa offloaded 3,825 pounds of c*caine worth more than $28.7 million at Base Miami Beach, Florida.  The dr*gs were seized during two interdictions in the Eastern Pacific Ocean under Operation Pacific Viper.  According to the DEA, this amount is enough to end more than 1.4 million American lives.

E-7 Wedgetail: Next-Gen Airborne Early Warning Aircraft The E-7 Wedgetail is the Air Force’s next-generation AWACS replacement based on the Boeing 737.  It features a powerful Multi-role Electronically Scanned Array radar for tracking hundreds of targets.  The Wedgetail will provide advanced battle management and command and control for future air operations.

173rd Airborne Conducts Combined Arms Live-Fire in Morocco U.S. Soldiers from the 173rd Mobile Brigade Combat Team (Airborne) conducted a combined arms live-fire exercise during African Lion 26 at Cap Draa, Morocco on April 26, 2026. The paratroopers maneuvered while integrating direct fires, artillery, and autonomous systems in a realistic combat scenario. African Lion is U.S. Africa Command’s largest annual exercise, involving over 5,600 personnel from more than 40 nations to build interoperability and combat readiness.

M10 Booker: Army’s New Light Tank The M10 Booker is the Army’s new light tank, weighing 42 tons and armed with a 105mm cannon.  It provides mobile firepower for infantry brigades and can be airlifted by C-17 aircraft.  The Booker fills the gap between Strykers and heavy Abrams tanks in austere and urban environments.

USS Fitzgerald (DDG 62): Arleigh Burke-Class Destroyer The USS Fitzgerald (DDG-62) is a Flight IIA Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer.  On June 17, 2017 it was involved in a collision with the merchant vessel ACX Crystal off Japan, resulting in the loss of seven sailors.  The ship was repaired and returned to service, and the tragedy led to significant improvements in Navy watchstanding procedures.

One Field, Two Nations: U.S. and Singapore Soldiers Play Ultimate Frisbee During Tiger Balm 2026 On May 5, 2026, soldiers from the Washington Army National Guard, America’s First Corps, and the Singapore Armed Forces played a friendly game of Ultimate Frisbee during Exercise Tiger Balm 2026 at Joint Base Lewis-McChord. The game helped build camaraderie and personal connections between U.S. and Singapore troops while supporting the broader goals of the exercise, which focuses on combat readiness, interoperability, and strengthening the U.S.-Singapore security partnership in the Indo-Pacific. #US #Singapore #ArmyNationalGuard

M-ATV: Mine-Resistant Ambush-Protected Vehicle The M-ATV is a lightweight, highly mobile MRAP vehicle with a V-shaped hull designed to survive mine and IED blasts.  It carries up to five troops at speeds up to 65 mph and features a remote weapon station for heavy firepower.  Over 8,000 have been produced and it remains a lifesaver for U.S. forces in high-threat environments.

EA-18G Growler: Electronic Attack Fighter The EA-18G Growler is the Navy’s electronic attack fighter that jams enemy radars and communications while carrying HARM missiles.  It protects strike aircraft and suppresses air defenses.  The Growler is the most advanced electronic attack platform in the U.S. military inventory.

Training: AGM-65 Maverick Missiles from FA-50PH and MK-82 Bombs from A-29 Super Tucano Hit Decommissioned Philippine Navy Ship BRP Rajah Sulayman (PS-20) During Balikatan 2026 on May 7, Philippine Air Force FA-50PH Fighting Eagles fired AGM-65 Maverick missiles and A-29 Super Tucano aircraft dropped MK-82 general purpose bombs, striking the decommissioned Philippine Navy vessel BRP Rajah Sulayman (PS-20) during a joint maritime strike event near Paoay Sand Dunes. This live-fire training was part of Joint Task Force MARSTRIKE and focused on improving combined U.S.-Philippine air and maritime strike capabilities in a contested environment.
