HS Coaches often knock AAU Coaches & programs for “not coaching” & just assembling talent. At the top shoe circuits this couldn’t be further from the truth. Coaching is at an extremely high level & all the players are held very accountable. You have no choice, competition 2 good.

NEWS: Yousaf Ahmad has committed to Saint Louis, his agent Mike Simonetta of @LifeSportsAgncy tells DraftExpress. The 6’7” Toronto native had a breakout senior season with King Heights Academy, earning an All-Canadian Games nod. Late-blooming jumbo initiator oozing with upside.

It’s great that so many kids get to play the game nowadays. There’s so many clubs and so many leagues that every level of player can enjoy the great game of basketball. The problem that arises is parents can get a false sense of how good their kid actually is.

🇨🇦’s own @tajauduke1 led @ihccbasketball to a #3 national ranking, pacing his team in both points and assists this season, and earning D1 JUCO First Team All-American. Nationwide recognition isn’t a small matter. Professional-style play. Coaches 📲 @Vi_Massiah

College basketball staffs are now adding Chief of Staff roles in addition to General Manager roles and already-existing executive assistant roles. We still can’t pay all of the GAs though lol

And many of yall say this is good and they getting money. Bullshit. Ain’t that much money out there. So many ruining their careers. This is embarrassing for college basketball. A damn circus and many of you applaud it. Younger generation…I feel bad for you in advance.

There are currently 2,901 players in the men’s basketball transfer portal, opening 14 hours ago. With only 5,607 Division I players total, more than half of the player pool is now in the portal.

Thankful that @JayBilas addressed this on College GameDay. Suddenly college sports need “saving” because college athletes are being paid and can transfer. Suddenly the NCAA needs antitrust protection. Odd. For decades, while everyone ate off the backs of college athletes, nobody sought federal regulation. Nobody sought an antitrust exemption. The urgency to lobby Congress to "save college sports" only came to be once the college athletes started getting paid. Let that sink in.

This is a legitimately braindead argument. We should stop letting 21 year olds make the most money they’ll ever make because they won’t make that same amount when they’re 23? That’s your argument?

Ding. Ding. Ding. It’s not the top kids that this system will fail. It’s the kids who make $500k and then $600k. They graduate, their careers sputter out and then go to get an office job and make $75k. What are they going to do then. The ncaa won’t care…

Built a multi billion dollar industry on unpaid labor (college athletes). Now paying them is unsustainable? That is not a system problem, that is accountability. It’s not about economics it’s about control. The only thing unsustainable is a model built on uncompensated labor.

For decades, nobody pushed for federal regulation while athletes generated billions without compensation. The urgency to "save college sports" only arrived once players started seeing some of the money, and that framing tells you a lot.
Mit Winter@WinterSportsLaw

As @JayBilas correctly points out, there’s a lot of hypocrisy in college athletics right now. It’s only when athletes begin to get paid that it’s necessary to have a federal law to “save college sports.”
