Walking through A&E and seeing the pressure was eye opening. As the day went on more people kept coming through the front door. The acuity of patients is night we were told, more people with more complex conditions.

We were privileged to be meet staff @NewcastleHosps yesterday with @Voa1234 and @JackieDanielNHS. Fantastic to learn about the work taking place to support staff, work collaboratively with local partners @CollabNewcastle, meet the daily demands and focus on patient care

The pressure is real, hospitals are balancing a huge amount of risk and services are overstretched, but they are resourcefully managing demand. The impact on staff, who do this day in and day out must be huge - but the compassion and dedication never falters. ❤️

Huge thanks to @Voa1234 for visiting us @NewcastleHosps. I know that staff will appreciate you taking the time to see our current pressures for yourself and to witness everything we are trying to do to support our patients 🙏

Train has finally arrived (points failure) so @Voa1234 and I can visit @NewcastleHosps and @JackieDanielNHS and find out about the great work that has been going on.
