The teen, part of a group with two accomplices, approached the retiree’s white Toyota Hilux in a van, jumped out, and pointed a fake gun resembling a .22-caliber Bersa Thunder at the driver. The retiree, armed with a legally owned .357 Magnum pistol, fired five shots, hitting the teen in the skull and chest, causing him to collapse; the accomplices fled in the van. Local Prosecutor Diego Rulli determined the retiree acted in clear self-defense, and no charges were filed against him. The incident, the second fatal shooting of a minor during an attempted robbery in Buenos Aires in January 2025, sparked debate, with the teen described by friends as a “great person” despite carrying a fake gun.
