Last last, na everybody go sell airtime 😊 For some reason, this line popped into my mind when I read about Chowdeck now selling airtime and data (which Sycamore does too by the way). But seriously though, in a commodity business like airtime, differentiation is not the real game. It’s about capacity, distribution, and demand. If the market is big enough (and with how much telcos make from airtime, it clearly is), there’s room for everyone who can move volume. That said, let’s be clear. Selling airtime or data is not fintech. It’s commerce. Simple as that. Not every digital transaction is financial technology. Sometimes, it’s just… technology and commerce.
