Teaching is political. I know that more than ever now that I’m living and working in Qatar. I had actually spoken to Tom and agreed to have him as part of the new book club I’ve started here, but I think I will ask another writer…

Hi, I’m looking for a DSL/DDSL with strong CPOMS expertise and excellent data analysis skills. There’s a potential opportunity in a London school, either admin or pastoral focused. Interested or know someone who might be? Let me know! Non teaching *

Inspiring presentation by @VictoriaRaynor7 at @NAPCE1 conference on Friday. Pastoral is job for all staff not just pastoral heroes. Pastoral care is the bridge to academic achievement. Pastoral care opens doors to success.

So proud of my amazing mum and dad. You can see how hard it is for them but by raising awareness for @AlzResearchUK they are finding a small sliver lining in an otherwise grey cloud. Truly awesome 💕 @AlStewartOBE xxx

A few years ago, I visited a rape crisis centre, to find out more about the work that they do to help survivors. It was an amazing place, run by some really dedicated women. But when I was there they said something that at the time really shocked me. They told me that they don’t advise women and girls who have been raped or sexually assaulted to go to court. Obviously they’ll support them if they do decide that they want to pursue a criminal case. But they don’t specifically advise them to do so. I was really surprised. Why wouldn’t you want to get justice for these awful crimes? So I asked them why. And they told me – look – the court process is really traumatic. You could wait years. You could be victim blamed in court. You could be re-traumatised. And then after all that… you might not get justice at the end of it. They might get off. They told me that knowing all that…they can’t hand on heart tell victims that putting your faith in the British justice system is necessarily the right thing to do. I got it then, I understood it. It’s pretty depressing, though, isn’t it? Because the result is victims not getting justice… and rapists…well… it means rapists getting away with it, doesn’t it? Today on the show we’re taking a long hard look at how the justice system is dealing with sexual violence. A new report by the Criminal Bar Association shows survivors of rape and sexual assault are among those waiting the longest for their cases to be heard – leading to PTSD and suicidal thoughts. It takes on average TWO YEARS to get a trial from the point of charge… and some of course are having to wait even longer. We're focusing on this very powerful report by our correspondent Ashna Hurynag: news.sky.com/story/it-was-a…
