Meta Platforms is testing a “Surface Keyboard” in Horizon OS v85 (Public Test Channel) that turns any desk or table into a usable typing surface on Quest 3. You place both hands where you want the keyboard, it calibrates the height, then a virtual keyboard anchors to the surface so you can rest your hands instead of typing in mid-air. It’s still experimental and currently limited to the OS home environment (not third-party apps yet), but it’s a meaningful step toward making standalone VR feel more practical for messaging and productivity. Features like this push headsets toward a broader audience, as VR becomes not just a place to play, but to work efficiently too, and that convergence of fun + productivity is exactly what we’re building at Victoria VR.
